It's a week of holiday festivities. Monday and Tuesday have happy vibes. Wednesday has some emotional confusion. (Something unexpected might happen.) Thursday is a wonderful day full of positive energy! Friday is also a lovely day. Saturday is a tad iffy and Sunday is friendly and sociable. Today the Sun enters Capricorn to stay for four weeks ushering in a more disciplined, determined approach to life. Capricorn is realistic and likes to build for the future, which is wise considering that's where all of us will be for the rest of our lives. Merry Christmas dear readers!
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Good news! For the next four weeks, the Sun is at the top of your chart casting you in a flattering spotlight! Even if you don't do anything different, you look great to everyone, which is an advantage you can use. This is why you might be asked to take on increased responsibilities. Don't hesitate to accept because you will impress everyone. (Good lighting is everything.) Travel plans appeal. Ditto for publishing ideas. Your ambition is aroused, and you're thinking more about your career, your role in society and your reputation in the community. Appearances are everything.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
It's a festive week, and today the Sun has changed signs, joining Venus and Mars in Capricorn, which will make you want to broaden your horizons in every way possible. This is why you'll enjoy study, and discovering unfamiliar territory. Your best option is to travel because this will stimulate you and give you a sense of adventure. You're also keen to learn as much as possible in the next four weeks. The bottom line is you want to do something different. You want to shake things up and get out of your velvet rut. (Good food and drink might help.) Romance with someone unusual might happen for some of you. Look for ways to expand your mind and open up to new dimensions of reality. Sounds a bit heady, but new discoveries and knowledge will thrill you.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
It's a curious thought (and who does curious better than you?) that every year at this time the Sun travels through the part of your chart that triggers strong psychological compulsions leading to behaviour you don't understand. You want to experience life at a feeling level, not just an intellectual perception. You might even meet someone who produces this need for self-inquiry, while everyone else is drinking rum and eggnog and looking for Scotch tape. The good news is that this year, fair Venus is along for the ride attracting money and goodies to you. Oh yes! Keep your pockets open! Romance will also be affectionate. Admittedly, Mars might create arguments about how to spend a limited amount of money. (Since 1% of the population has all the money, it's always limited.)
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Today the Sun moves opposite your sign to stay for four weeks. This happens only once a year and when it does, it means you will need more sleep. That's because the Sun represents energy, and for the next four weeks it will be as far away from your sign as it can get. (We're not talking 93 million miles. We're talking 5 inches on your chart.) Both Venus and Mars will also be opposite your sign bringing very different influences. Venus will pave the way for affectionate relations with those who are closest to you. Very cozy. Mars however will create some tension because it makes you easily annoyed with others. Consider this an opportunity to practice patience, which is a virtue.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
Every year during the holiday season, the Sun moves into Capricorn to stay for four weeks. Quite often, it will be accompanied by Venus and Mars because they are so close to the Sun. This means you always have this influence at play during the holiday season. For your sign, it means you'll be keen to work and get better organized. Fortunately, Mars will give the energy to so this, however, it can also provoke conflicts, especially with parents and bosses. You won't be a team player. Countering this, fair Venus will smooth over difficulties with others. However, Venus loves the good life. It likes art, romance, affection, money, and desserts. (I think it also likes butter.) Remember the old saying: "A minute on the lips is a lifetime on the hips." Or do we care?
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
You are the sign of service, and it's interesting that every year during the holiday season, the planets are in the part of your chart that says -- have fun and live it up! Take a vacation! Blow town! Enjoy good times especially with the arts, sports and fun activities with kids. And remember - it's all about you! These are not necessarily qualities one associates with Virgo, but it might be one reason you enjoy the holidays. Make a point of seeing and appreciating the creative work of others at concerts, museums, galleries and craft fairs because this will bring you enjoyment. (Actually, you probably had a table to sell your wares.) Clever you.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
Today the Sun enters Capricorn to join both Venus and Mars at the bottom of your chart. The Sun will stay there for four weeks increasing your focus on home and family. You'll want to cozy up in front of the proverbial fire at home. You feel better when you look good, so a comfy robe or attractive "leisure wear" will add the perfect touch to your mise-en-scene. (I learned that in theatre classes. Don't even get me talking about storyboarding.) Because you like pleasant surroundings, you'll love beautifying your home, even shoving furniture around, while dealing with the increased chaos of visiting guests and family, which ever so slightly makes your teeth itch.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
While Librans might try to relax at home, you're on the go! This is a fast-paced week full of energy, communications, appointments and creating affectionate bonds with others. You're eager to communicate and enjoy the company of siblings, relatives and neighbours. You want to share your ideas. You will also appreciate the beauty of your daily surroundings. Admittedly, Mars in your sign makes you forceful and persuasive, which can lead to lively discussions. (Go gently.) Listen to podcasts when walking, because you will love to learn new things right now. With Mercury in your Money House, you might have excellent moneymaking ideas.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
It's a tossup whether Leo or Sagittarius is the last of the big-time spenders but I do think you win. You do everything large! Right now, travel and conversations with others totally appeals because Mercury is in your sign. Meanwhile, the Sun, Venus and Mars are in your Money House prompting you to think about cash flow, and how you can get better control of your life through the things that you own. The good news is that you can attract money to you now. Admittedly, you will be hemorrhaging cash as well. At a deeper level, something will prompt you to examine your values in the next few weeks. This is appropriate because you are the philosopher of the zodiac.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
Ta da! Today the Sun enters your sign where it will stay for the next four weeks giving you a chance to recharge your batteries for the rest of year. You can replenish and reinvigorate yourself, which is a marvellous thing to be able to do. (This helps you to look younger than your age, which your sign is famous for.) It's also an excellent time to buy wardrobe goodies, especially because some designer labels and luxury brands are on sale. (You know who you are.) You certainly will have the energy to go after what you want because with the Sun and fiery Mars in your sign you're stoked! In fact, this is your chance to show the world what you can do!
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Conversations and socializing with someone younger will please you now. In fact, these exchanges might cause you to modify your future goals. Meanwhile, three planets are hiding in your chart right now, which means likewise, you want to keep a low profile. Observe what is going on around you and jump in when you want. You might even want to play a game of Bureaucracy? That's where everyone stands in a circle and does nothing. Basically, you're waiting for your birthday to arrive; and until then, why not think about how you want your new year to be different than last year? Jot down your ideas. Goals are motivating and they keep you on track.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Quite possibly, more than any other sign, this festive season is always a social time for you. That's because the Sun will always be in your House of Friendships, probably along with Mercury and Venus. This means you're eager to share good times with friends. You're happy to be active in groups and organizations. You might play a leadership role in community events or fundraising. You might be active in physical sports, especially competitively. For many of you, a platonic relationship might turn romantic. This is also a time when you're happy to speak up to bosses and authority figures to state your case. "Are there any more shortbread?"
