Each month the New Moon is a guide for taking stock and helping ourselves to discover what we want to change or improve in our lives. It's a gift because it's our chance to make resolutions like we do on January 1. One big difference is we can focus on a different part of our lives each month because each New Moon is in a different sign. Furthermore, January 1 is based on the Gregorian calendar, which is a man-made system devised in 1582. By contrast, the New Moon is real! It has been taking place since the Sun and the Earth were formed. This is a cool opportunity! (It's certainly more useful that relying on a selfie stick to get a long look at yourself.)
The New Moon this week is in the part of your chart concerned with religion, post secondary education and philosophy, and what you learn through travel. Much of your job success depends on your training and education and your general experience in life. Therefore, this is the week to take stock of your education. What further training might you get that will improve your job? For that matter, what further education or perhaps travel can you get to enhance your beliefs and attitudes about the world and the people in it? Maybe a new belief system that is not a formal religion awaits you?
You are the banker of the zodiac. The New Moon this week is in one of your Money Houses, specifically the house related to other people's money, shared property, inheritances, taxes, debt and the money you get from the government or an insurance company. It includes the wealth of your partner. Examine the balance between how you rely on your own resources and earnings and how much you rely on the resources of others? What is your relationship to debt? Are you in over your head? Is the posse after you? This "House" is not only a Money House, it also relates to sex. How is your sex life? (Or should I say was?) These are things to think about this week.
This week, both the Moon and the Sun are lined up in your Seventh House, which is about committed relationships and partnerships (marriage and professional partnerships). This is your chance to examine your underlying beliefs about these relationships. For example, if you believe the people only want you for what you can do for them, you will attract takers to you. What do you believe about those who are closest to you? How would you finish the sentence, "When I get involved in a relationship ___." This will give you a hint to what your core belief is about your closest partnerships. Try it.
For your sign, the New Moon this week is taking place in your Sixth House, which is about your work and your health. (It also deals with your pets, not including silverfish. We often take our health for granted until it is threatened. What is your attitude toward your health? Do you take care of your body? Do you think you can "get away with this" each time you eat junk food or do something harmful because it's "only this once." And what about your work? If you look at your job as slave labour and do as little as you can to get by, how unfulfilling! Why not work your best and be as creative, productive and proud as possible? After all, it's your job.
This is an interesting New Moon because it deals with the energy of fun, entertainment, love affairs, romance, leisure activities, the theatre, sports, creativity and children. This week you can examine your attitude to romance. You can also look at your relationship to your kids. And what about your relationship to your own creativity? Too often, we think that if we're not professionals or we don't get paid for it, why bother? But you are a verb - not a noun. What matters most is the doing! Expressing your artistic talent can bring you and others pleasure and happiness.
The New Moon this week is a wonderful opportunity to look at your past: your youth and your current relationship with home and family. The two are always related. Our home is our refuge. What makes you feel safe and secure? Do you hang on to the past to the extent it brings a cost to your present existence? For example, are you limiting your options and choices because of your parents' beliefs or values, especially their opinion of you? Our level of confidence can be based on youthful experiences that have nothing to do with our current achievements. Crazy but true.
You are an Air Sign, which means most of you are a communicator because essentially, you are intellectual in how you relate to others. The New Moon this week occurs in your Third House, which deals with your daily routines, your relationships with your relatives, and your communications with the world around you. Obviously, if you don't communicate with others, you're cutting yourself off from the world. Or are you afraid to talk too much about your own needs because you think you will drive people away? What ideas are important for you to express? Who do you want to talk to? Actually, who do you want to listen to you?
The New Moon this week is in your Money House of earnings, which is appropriate because in 2019 you will earn more money! Let's take a look at your attitude to money. Your attitude to something will control the way it manifests in your life. If you think easy come, easy go - you won't hold on to much because you aren't respecting the money your life. If you think money is the root of all evil, you won't have much of it. When it comes to money, it's very helpful to set goals. Think about your income. Think of your spending practices. Why not write down, "By the end of next year I want______." Set that goal and aim for it!
Ta da! The New Moon this week is in your sign! This means it's the perfect time to look at the impact you have on others. Many of you are friendly and breezy. But is your friendly and breezy sincere? Physical appearance is also important. Not in terms of beauty but in terms of how well you are dressed and what your image says about you. We form our impression of someone in the first 10 seconds of meeting them. After that, they have to change our mind, which was immediately made up. Is this wise? No - but we all meet each other and make a snap judgment. What snap judgment do you want others to make about you?
This week the New Moon is taking place in a hidden part of your chart, which means this is your opportunity to examine some hidden impulses. This part of the chart also deals with the unconscious but how can you know about your unconscious? What you can do however, is try to identify self-defeating behaviour patterns, especially patterns that are based on your youth. We often develop a habit to protect ourselves when we are young and even though this habit is no longer relevant when we're older and more confident -we still persist in it. This is your chance to examine how you might be your own worst enemy. Ask yourself how lovable you are. Do you want to be lovable? (I do.)
This is a meaningful New Moon for you this week because it takes place in the part of your chart that resonates with your deepest values - i.e. friendships, groups and your social consciousness. Take a look at the friends you have in your life and how you relate to others. Do you give as much as you take? Do you reach out to others or do you wait for them to come to you? Is the time you spend with your friends rewarding and fulfilling or is it sort of meh? What about groups to which you might belong? Do they express your ideals or do you just want the company? Whatever the answers to these questions are will let you know more about your motives in seeking out others.
The New Moon this week is taking place at the top of your chart which is traditionally concerned with your career and your public reputation and also the authority figures in your life. That means this is the perfect week to take a good look at your career and determine where exactly you are going. What progress have you made since last year? Where do you want to be three years from now? What you have to start to do now to go in that direction? Do you need new skills? Most of us are at work on Wednesday simply because we were there on Tuesday. We take our job for granted. What kind of report card would you give yourself about how you do your job?
