All Signs
Oy! It's Mercury retrograde in Leo until August 18. (The "shadow" lasts until Sept. 2). What to do? Carry a book to pass the time if delayed. Stay on top of car repairs because transportation breakdowns are classic. Plan reunions. Get in touch with old friends. Contemplate your past and jot down ideas in your journal -- you might have an epiphany. Double-check appointment times and dates. Re-read that email or FB post before you send it. Back up your work, your contacts and your photos. Leave early. Avoid tight scheduling. Wait until Sept. 3 to buy computers, cell phones, printers, cars and trucks. Speaking of which, do you think the introduction of self-driving vehicles will trigger a hit country song where the guy's truck leaves him, too? And the dog will be in it.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Mercury retrograde is why you're thinking about or hearing from old flames from your past. Woot! This can be complicated. Sometimes some feelings are still smouldering, and you remember why you fell in love with that person. Sometimes the opposite happens. Within two minutes, you remember why you left! Time has a way of warping memories. For example, the older I get, the better I was. This is a romantic time for you, as well as a great time for vacations, social outings, sports events, parties, art openings and playful times with kids. Make sure you look dazzling when you go out because you don't know who you will meet. (Remind them what they're missing.)
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
This particular Mercury retrograde is about home, family and your private life. You're in contact with relatives you haven't heard from for ages. Time marches on! Stock the fridge and get ready for family reunions where everyone sits around the kitchen table trading lies about the bad old days. "House?" "We lived in a room!" "Room?" We lived in a corridor!" "Corridor? We lived in a cardboard box by the side of the road!" Enjoy trips down memory lane. Tackle house repairs you've been ignoring. Your involvement with a parent will be important. Venus will bring some fun escapes with parties, social events, romantic getaways and a chance to test your creative talents. George Burns was right: "Happiness is a warm, loving, caring family in another city."
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
So what's on the fritz? The car? Dishwasher? Dryer? Phone? Computer? And that's just the broken stuff. What about missed appointments? Conversations that are like two ships passing in the night? Cancelled events. Detours. Note: Drive defensively and carefully to avoid accidents. Expect surprise contact with siblings and relatives, and plans unravelling before your eyes. But ah ha! You can use this "backwards" energy to finish old projects or do research. Mercury is your ruler and while it does this looping backwards thing, it can be useful if you know how to use it. Hypnosis into the past? Finish what you started. Research or study history. Olde worlde stuff.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
You're frugal and not casual about money. (You can live it up - but you think about it first; and you're aware of who is picking up the tab.) This particular Mercury retrograde that we are now in affects your earnings, your purchases, your cash flow, your assets and your possessions. Oh yes. However, this is an excellent time to repair anything that you already own. If you're looking for work, go back to places you applied at before or where you once worked. Unfortunately, cheques in the mail will be late. Be wise and double check all information regarding financial arrangements. This is also a good time to think about what it is that you value most in life. That's important to know.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
Mercury retrograde is in your sign and you feel it! Silly things go wrong with emails, cell phones, computers, home appliances, cars, bikes, motorcycles, mixed-up communications by mail or Internet, plus lost things, misplaced paper work and confused appointments. In addition - your health. Mercury rules the lungs, the arms, the hands and the fingers and you might have complaints in these areas as well. But you will survive. You will do well at work and might boost your earnings. You will make some beautiful purchases - exquisite art or something special. Be patient with partners and close friends. Remember: No mud; no lotus.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Mercury is the ruler of two signs - Gemini and Virgo. This Mercury retrograde might create difficulties with digestion or your intestinal tract. Furthermore, this Mercury retrograde is taking place in a hidden part of your chart, which means you have a lovely advantage if you're doing hidden, secret work. Well, we're not all spooks, so you might really use this advantage in terms of doing research and looking for answers to old questions and solutions to old problems. Meanwhile, lovely Venus in your sign makes you charming and diplomatic. This is also a wonderful time for you to buy wardrobe treasures for yourself.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
You're a popular, social sign, and this month, while Mercury is retrograde, you will hear from old friends. It's good to have history with others. Take advantage of this chance to be in touch and rekindle memories. Not only will you have contact with old friends, you will also interact with members of clubs and organizations that you were involved with from your past. These interactions will be intriguing, informative and perhaps even educational. But they will also be beneficial for you. Because our relationships with others are intangible or without a numeric value, too often, their benefit is overlooked. It's important to reach out to others to be seen and be heard.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Mercury retrograde is occurring at the top of your chart, which means you have more interaction with parents, bosses and VIPs from your past. Old issues with parents and bosses will arise. Solutions aren't guaranteed, nevertheless, this is your chance to look at these past situations with wiser eyes. Perhaps you were a child then and an adult now? You will have more objectivity and more understanding for the limitations that occurred or the expectations that were not met. The Sun high in your chart makes you look marvelous in the eyes of others. You are admired! Mark Twain said, "I can live for two months on a good compliment." (He was Scorpio rising.)
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
You are the traveller of the zodiac and it's curious that this Mercury retrograde is taking place in your "home". Namely, the part of your chart that covers travel, dealing with foreign countries, and anything to do with higher education, medicine, the law, publishing and the media. This means these are the very areas this Mercury retrograde will impact. There will be delays to travel plans - cancellations or rescheduling. Ditto for anything to do with higher education. Although there will be delays to publishing, medicine and the law - at the same time, you have an opportunity to finish projects in these areas. Like that manuscript. Or that important paper. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
You can make good use out of the Mercury retrograde this month because it will help you finish matters with inheritances, wills, taxes, debt and anything to do with shared property and insurance issues. This is a lot of red tape and it can be boring or daunting. But hey, it won't go away on its own. Use the energy of Mercury retrograde to wrap up old business in these areas because you will be surprised at how easy it will be! Meanwhile, you can travel for pleasure and explore new horizons. Romance with someone who is different" might blossom, especially since you are so popular this year! This is also a passionate time for you. Don't leave home without a rose between your teeth.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
The Mercury retrograde this month is opposite your sign because Leo is 180 degrees opposite from Aquarius. This guarantees hearing from ex-partners and old friends. Perhaps it will bring you opportunities for closure or a better understanding? (Or it could make you want to hide in the canned goods aisle of the supermarket. "Is he still there?") It gives you a chance to rethink a current relationship and whether or not your expectations are realistic. Remember: unexpressed expectations almost always lead to disappointment. Because Mars is in your sign for so long this year, you are more aggressive than usual. You might not realize this, but you are, and your partners and close friends have to deal with this. Hmmm?
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
This Mercury retrograde is maddening because it takes place in the part of your chart relating to your employment, your health and your pets. ("Aaggh, the silverfish are back!") This means there will be mixed-up communications, equipment breakdowns, computer problems, packages late in the mail, confusion with staff schedules and difficulty working or perhaps the loss of a job. Fear not; this is temporary. The upside is that you can complete a lot of old projects that are job-related. Fortunately, relations with partners and close friends are smooth and supportive. Opportunities to travel and get further education are also a benefit. This too, shall pass. (Especially if you drink a lot of water.)
