Shakespeare described eclipses as times of treason, mutiny and brothers divided. No wonder everyone is hyped about the Solar Eclipse on Aug. 21, when American towns will see the stars at lunchtime! But the truth is the eclipse is just a New Moon that is turbo charged and tuned for the track. Each New Moon marks the end of a cycle and the beginning of another. Instead of a 28-day window, this eclipse highlights a six-month window back to last Feb. and forward to next Jan. However - yes, new beginnings! The secret is to be a visionary. Be bold! Frank Lloyd Wright, (by his own admission one of the greatest architects in the world) never studied architecture. Didn't even finish college. He was just a Gemini full of derring-do! Often something is too close to be recognized or too simple to believe. But it's right there. Why not yearn for the impossible?
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Even though the Solar Eclipse is eight days from now, you can already feel its energy even if you don't realize it. It's the kind of energy that you love because you love to begin new things! You are an initiator. The words "fresh start" turn your crank - and indeed, that's what this month is all about for you. Be open to exciting new adventure! Encourage laughter in your life. Demand more freedom for yourself. And above all, appreciate your creative, artistic talents because after all, you are the artisan of the zodiac. You love to create and do new things with your hands. Taurus (April 20-May 20)

No need to focus that much on the last six months; better to focus on the energy of this Solar Eclipse with respect to your future. What new exciting things can you do that will affect your home, your family and perhaps even your real-estate holdings? Gemini (May 21-June 20)
You love words and ideas. For your sign, the Solar Eclipse that occurs eight days from now will be a bit like Leonard Cohen's song Anthem, "There's a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." Yes, your life is busy. Yes you are talking to daily contacts and enjoying short trips. But what will be life-changing (perhaps) - will be new ideas that light up your brain and spark your enthusiasm for life. Your awareness of your daily world will expand. This might happen through study or through a sibling or relative. You know the Gemini saying: "There's good, there's cheap and there's fast. Pick two cuz you can't have all three."
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
The Moon is your ruler, which is why you are interested in any Full Moon, or New Moon, or certainly a Solar Eclipse, which is a direct alignment of the Sun and the Moon. This is your world; these are your people! What this Solar Eclipse portends for your sign will have a lot to do with your assessment of yourself: your feelings of self-worth. In a more peripheral way, it might deal with your assets and your wealth. If so, you will have an opportunity to earn money and increase your wealth in a new way. But definitely, you are stepping into some kind of self actualization or an evolvement where you will feel you are "worth" more by next year. Not just your bank account. Capisce?
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
You are probably aware the Solar Eclipse taking place eight days from now on Aug. 21, is occurring in the sign of Leo - very late in the sign. This means those born after Aug. 16 will feel this influence the most. ("I feel it! It's strongest in my left shoulder!") It's hard to say how a Solar Eclipse will manifest for anyone but quite likely, it will usher in an opportunity to begin new partnerships and close friendships. And in your existing partnerships and close friendships, you will try something new. You will look at this person with new eyes. Or you might look at yourself with new eyes and decide to be more skillful, patient and caring. The result will be a relationship that is more harmonious and happier - not one that rhymes with Nantucket.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
For your sign, the Solar Eclipse will take place in a hidden part of your chart. (Maybe all you have to do is grab some sparklers and do some kicks?) You will travel new avenues that appeal to you -- not through an organized group or church - but through your own intellectual exploration. You might seek out ancient techniques (some of them New Age) that intrigue you. Aromatherapy, numerology, breathing techniques, meditation, could be anything. It will be new and exciting!
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
You are a social sign, perhaps the most social of the zodiac. Ironically, this particular Solar Eclipse impacts the part of your chart that is all about friendships and groups. This is a big part of your life! This means that some friendships might fade away now while new friendships begin. You might also leave a group with which you have been involved, and quite likely, you have sensed this coming on for some time because ultimately, you will either begin a new group or join a new group. At a deeper level, you will observe the people you hang out with. They're such a big part of your life. Do they enhance your life in a positive way? Something to think about. (That, and the fact that a meal without wine is called breakfast.)
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Because this particular Solar Eclipse is taking place in Leo, you will feel it because the four Fixed Signs are Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio and Taurus. (That's why they call you "Kitten.") You will have a sense of something fading away, especially with your career and your reputation. Some aspect that you have been involved with will have less pull for you because something new is entering your world, especially in a way that affects your public persona. This new influence will create a new world for you. And we know it's going to be good news because lucky Jupiter will enter your sign in October. (Yes, I peeked.) All hail Scorpio!
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
You are one of the few signs that beautifully fits the influence of this particular Solar Eclipse. It is going to activate all of the things you love best! It will bring you new opportunities in areas that are dear to your heart. You will have fresh, new opportunities to travel. You will have fresh, new opportunities to study or go to school. You will have fresh, new opportunities to explore avenues in publishing, the media, medicine, the law or any aspect of universities, colleges and technical schools. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

The Solar Eclipse on Aug 21, which is just a special New Moon, happens to be taking place 180 degrees opposite your sign, specifically, for those born after February 12. Admittedly, regardless of when you were born, if you are an Aquarius, this is going to have something to do with your closest friendships, your partnerships and your marriage. No question. Perhaps some of you have already felt a shift. Some things are lessening or waning and the very reason this is happening is because something new is going to happen. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
