All Signs
Mercury was the Roman god who carried messages from the gods down to Earth. (The Greeks called him Hermes.) Mercury is associated with travel, commerce, trade and all forms of communication. During times of Mercury retrograde, the Romans kept their cell phones turned off in an attempt to reduce mixed-up communications. (Tragically, this was the reason Calpurnia was not able to warn Caesar about the betrayal of the Senate and Brutus.) Mercury is slowing down now to go retrograde on the 19th. Wise shoppers will wait until Jan. 28 to buy big ticket items like cars, trucks and cell phones. Delays and confusion will lessen around Jan. 8, when Mercury stops being retrograde (even though it is still behind where it originally was). Retrograde Mercury makes us reflect, take stock, and mostly swear too much.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Back in Jan. this year, Mercury was retrograde at the top of your chart. And once again, Mercury is retrograde at the top of your chart. Hmmm. Curious bookends for 2016 for your sign. This affects interactions with parents whom you might not have seen for a while. Expect to run into old bosses and authority figures from your past. This is the time to take a second run at something. If you made your pitch or tried to introduce a project, and it was turned down - try again! Run it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes. Travel plans excite you. Relations with friends and groups are friendly and perhaps, competitive. "Oh yeah?? Yeah."
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Each Mercury retrograde is different because it takes place in a different part of your chart. This Mercury retrograde is similar to the one that occurred back in January. It will impact travel plans, create delays and mixed-up communications with hotels, airports, buses, taxis and your travel reservations. You might recall what you dealt with back in Jan. because you will face this again for the rest of this month and in Jan. 2017. If you travel somewhere new, your challenge will be more daunting; but if you travel where you've been before, it will be easier. Meanwhile, this is a great time to finish writing a paper or a book.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Because Mercury is your ruler, you feel it when Mercury goes retrograde! And yes, during these times of Mercury retrograde, communications are mixed up, daily tasks suffer from delays and silly, goofy mistakes, and you invariably run into people from your past. However, the upside is these times allow us to reflect on the past and learn more about ourselves. And for your sign, this particular retrograde encourages you to wrap up loose details regarding inheritances, insurance issues, taxes, debt and anything to do with shared property. You can definitely use this to your advantage.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
For the rest of this month and all of Jan., Mercury will be retrograde opposite your sign. To be more precise, it will not be retrograde all that time, some of it will be when Mercury is slowing down or trying to catch up again. The exact times of the Mercury retrograde are from Dec. 19 to Jan. 8. Nevertheless, you can already feel it right now because Mercury is slowing down. And after January 8, it will take until Jan. 28 to catch up to the degree that it was at when it first went retrograde. This means that you will likely to run into ex-partners and old friends this month and next month. Look good because living well is the best revenge!
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
Some Mercury retrogrades are easier than others. But this ain't one of them. This Mercury retrograde is like the one in Jan. earlier this year, and it will affect the efficiency (or rather lack of it) in your job. At work, or with any task you set for yourself, you will encounter delays, mistakes, goofy errors, and obstacles. It will be hard to push new ideas forward. However, and this is the good news, it will be easy for you to resurrect old ideas or promote something you have wanted to do for a long time. Many of you will encounter coworkers from your past. Meanwhile, be patient with partners and close friends. Show that Leo dazzle!
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Things at work are going well (considering that Mercury retrograde brings silly mistakes and misunderstandings). Your focus on home, family and your private life continues. However, Mercury retrograde is now starting to be felt; and you will feel this most strongly with social events, the arts, your children, sports and everything to do with love affairs and romance. That's why old flames might contact you again or you might cross their path. (Don't go out without eyeliner.) However, there is an upside and that is that you will easily finish creative projects this month and next. Even you will be amazed at how everything just comes together. Yay!
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
For the rest of Dec. and all next Jan., you will be involved with family matters. This might be because relatives and family members you haven't seen for a while are back on the scene. It might also be because you are dealing with home repairs. One glitch about this Mercury retrograde is you are trying to do too much. You're taking short trips, talking to everyone, running errands plus having a busy social life. But when you do too much, you tempt retrograde Mercury to trip you up! Far wiser to trim your social calendar so that you will feel less harried and frustrated; and more relaxed -- which now and zen is a good thing. (Can you hum Ohm on the Range?)
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Money is still on your mind. You are trying to do so much, especially at home - redecorating, renovating, entertaining, which is a lot to handle and still look calm, collected, like you floss and wear deodorant. (No wonder some conflict is brewing at home.) Like Libra, you need to reduce some activities so that you feel less harried and frantic. Be kind to yourself. Because of the demands at home with redecorating and entertaining, plus the transportation delays that Mercury retrograde will bring you, along with mixed-up communications and daily confusions - you need to go easy on yourself. Ya think? I think so. too!
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
This is still a powerful time because the Sun is in your sign. Mars makes you aggressive, forthright and demanding; while Venus sweetens your words, making you diplomatic and charming. Note: You can make money from your words this week. However, retrograde Mercury is in one of your money houses, specifically your House of Earnings. The good news is you might resurrect a previous contact or old idea about how to earn money. If you're looking for a job, go back to places where you applied before or even worked before. The downside is cheques in the mail will be late plus delays to your cash flow and financial transactions might occur. You win some; you lose some.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
You still are working behind the scenes or by yourself. Both Venus and Mars show you're working hard, plus spending money on beautiful things for yourself and loved ones. The hard truth is that Mercury retrograde is taking place in your sign. (You experienced this in Jan. at the beginning of this year.) There is no question this can be frustrating. It creates transportation delays, mixed-up communications, misunderstandings, and makes you misplace items and lose things, and you start to wonder if you're losing your mind as well! This will diminish after Jan. 8. Until then ' good luck!
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
This is a social time. Many of you are talking to friends, groups, clubs and organizations. Others might look to you for leadership in certain issues. Because Venus and Mars are in your sign now, Venus makes you charming and diplomatic. Kiss, kiss; hug, hug. Mars energizes you and makes you a force to contend with. You will fight for your rights and the rights of others. Mars gives you lots of energy to work and get things done. This means this is a strong time for Aquarius! You will benefit from Mercury retrograde more than other signs because where it occurs in your chart will facilitate research of any kind. It will also promote your ability to study the past, look into history, and redo anything that was done before but needs to be touched up or fixed again.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
You are a major kingpin with everyone because the Sun is still at the top of your chart, shining a flattering light down on you, making you look great in the eyes of everyone. This gives you an advantage - no question. Since this is the only time all year this occurs, use this advantage to ask for what you want. Ask for a raise. Ask for a promotion. Ask for a new job. Promote your agenda or pitch your ideas. Meanwhile, retrograde Mercury will attract friends from the past back into your world. Expect to hear from old pals and in some cases, to meet them and enjoy their company. It's good to have history with others. Reliable studies show that friendships make you happier and healthier.
