All Signs
The planet Mars represents energy. It is associated with aggression, work, sex and how we assert ourselves. ("I win!") It's a fundamental part of the ego drive. It takes two years to travel through the 12 signs, and generally stays in each sign for about six weeks. Earlier this year, we lived through an intense experience when Mars stayed in Libra for eight months. (Gulp!) Now it is back on track and has already skipped through Scorpio. Mars has just entered Sagittarius where it will stay until Oct. 25. Let's look at what this six-week influence means for each of us. Mars makes me think of two sayings: The first is: "If skating on thin ice, our safety is in our speed!" And the second is: "Don't think there are no crocodiles because the water is calm."
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Life looks good for your sign right now and you want to work. In particular, you want to accomplish things with skill and efficiency. But it's not all work and no play because lucky Jupiter is bringing you opportunities to explore vacations, the arts, romance, flirtations and playful times with children. All the fun stuff! And now Mars will encourage these same activities, especially travel. It will make you go after vacations and business opportunities in the entertainment world and the hospitality industry. Mars will help you expand your mind and be open to new beliefs and ways of seeing the world. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
This is a playful time for you because the Sun and Venus are in the part of your chart that is about romance, vacations, sports, the arts, hobbies and children. Tra la, tra la, it is to laugh! Your top priority will be to have fun. (And your gonads are in overdrive. Yes, your sex drive is amped.) Nevertheless, Mars can create disputes about shared property, taxes, debt, inheritances and insurance matters. Fortunately, it will dance with Jupiter and bring real-estate opportunities and increased happiness to your family and home, especially at the time of the Full Moon on October 7 & 8. (A welcome thing with challenged partnerships.)
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
For the next six weeks, while Mars is in Sagittarius, it will be opposite your sign, creating tension with partners and close friends. In fact, it will travel through the part of your chart known as the House of open enemies. (These are the bad guys you can actually see.) This means you must tread lightly to avoid arguments with those who are close to you. But the upside is that you will not be downtrodden or repressed. Oh no! You will defend yourself! This is a good thing. They say the best defense is an offense. I prefer a five-star hotel with room service. Fear not, Venus protects your home and family right now.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Mars is just what the doctor ordered for you. You turn out to be a winner. The reason for this is you are busy right now with short trips, errands, people to see, places to go and things to do. Some are writing and reading more as well. Mars will add to your high energy state by making you want to work hard and get things done. In particular, (remember how Mars is associated with ego?) it will make you take pride in your work and pump you with energy to get things done! Admittedly, it won't promote being a team player; unless you can get all the credit that is due you for your accomplishments.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
Mars is a fiery ball of energy and it can drop into your chart creating fun or havoc depending on your sign. Like Cancer above, you are another winner. A pretty big winner, actually, because Mars is now travelling through the part of your chart associated with romance, love affairs, children, vacations, the arts, sports, the entertainment world and the hospitality industry. For the most part, this is good news because Mars gives you the energy to explore these areas with fun and enthusiasm! It also amplifies your physical desires and sex drive. But even in paradise there is some rainfall. Mars could provoke conflict with kids and sports colleagues, possibly even accidents.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
This is a strong time for you because the Sun and fair Venus are in your sign. As I've said before, take advantage of this and shop for wardrobe goodies because you will like what you see in the mirror. You're also full of lots of moneymaking ideas. However, this new position of Mars definitely introduces increased activity and chaos to your home life or where you live. This could be due to renovations, repairs or visiting relatives. Whatever the case, it will require greater patience on your part to avoid domestic strife. It's the classic time when living with parents is difficult. Fortunately, it only happens once every two years - but once is enough!
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
It's interesting because Mars is going to counterbalance an energy already taking place in your chart. I'm referring to the fact that the Sun and Venus are hidden in your chart right now, which means you are working alone or behind the scenes. And some of you are having a secret love affair. Whatever the case, you are playing your cards close to your heaving bosom. But by contrast, Mars now electrifies your speech and communication with others! (Even to the point of being argumentative.) This could be handy for lawyers and a lot of Librans are in law. The reason you are so outspoken and vociferous is you identify with your beliefs now. Remember - Mars is all about ego and me, me, me.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
You look great now because lucky Jupiter is travelling through the part of your chart that bring you honours, kudos, professional respect and a chance to put your name up in lights. This is a wonderful thing and it only happens once every 12 years, so use this! Furthermore, on the Full Moon on October 8th, Mars will amplify all these fabulous qualities, and help you go for the brass ring. (Ideally, you will want to act on Tuesday the 7th because the 8th is a Moon Alert day, which is always a crapshoot.) Mars will boost your efforts to earn money and because it's simply energy - it will make you spend it as well. It might even create arguments about how you earn money or spend your cash.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Well, look who's here. Fiery Mars is in your sign the first time since November 2012. Mars is all about energy and when it's in your sign, it makes you assert yourself and helps you work hard. The result is it gives you a chance to show the world what you can do! It also brings activity to your life - not only because of what you are doing, but also to the world around you. It doesn't mean you are aggressive, but you will respond if provoked! (No one's a wuss with Mars in their sign.) So make the most of this. Use it to your advantage to get things done. It will help you with physical sports, especially competitions. Ride Sally ride!
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
Lucky Jupiter is in one of your Money Houses attracting the wealth of others; and Venus is attracting lovely opportunities to travel for pleasure and socialize (sometimes flirtatiously) with people from different backgrounds. But Mars is in a hidden part of your chart, which literally means it could stir up hidden enemies. In other words, it stirs the pot in areas where others might be working against your best interests. It can also make you your own worst enemy because you could fall into little, self-defeating acts. The upside is Mars is excellent for research and helping others, in a service-oriented way.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
The Sun and Venus are in one of your Money Houses, helping with negotiations with others, especially going for a loan or mortgage or dealing with a bank. This also benefits you in negotiations with partnerships, which are fabulous for the next year because lucky Jupiter is sitting opposite you. And now we have Mars pumping energy into the part of your chart that deals with friends and groups. This will make you excel in group competitions. It will energize your efforts to formulate goals and actively pursue them. It even helps you coordinate the efforts of others. Enjoy physical activity with friends!
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
This is the first time since November 2012 that Mars has been at top of your chart. This is a very powerful placement for this fiery ball of energy. It arouses your ambition plus Mars feels at home in this part of your chart. ("I'm on top of the heap!") Mars will give you lots of energy to work hard to achieve what you want, especially if it is through your own individual effort. Ideally, be your own boss right now because you will certainly be bossy and want credit for what you do. (So what?) The downside is you could threaten coworkers or bosses. Be nice. Leave the stilettos in the back of the closet.
