All Signs

Jupiter is in Cancer from June 2013 to July 2014. During this journey, it opposes mighty Pluto three times: August 2013; this week on January 31; and lastly, on April 20. These oppositions are strong because Jupiter is in its favourite sign Cancer. Jupiter signifies hope, optimism, knowledge and wisdom. It binds society through religion, universities and legal systems. It expands our lives through travel, knowledge and beliefs. By contrast, Pluto is a brutal realist. It challenges unfounded optimism and rips illusion from our eyes forcing us to accept reality. This week is the second opposition of this August-to-April journey. August introduced doubt. This week confirms the facts. By April, the truth is irrefutable. Truth can be tough to accept, but the alternative is deception and illusion. When it's time to "Wake up and smell the coffee" get good beans and rich cream.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

The opposition of Jupiter and Pluto (mentioned above in All Signs) forces you to accept the limitations of what you can achieve with respect to your hopes for your home and your relationships with family members. There is no question that you can improve and enrich your home life this year by getting a better home or improving your current one. Likewise all family relationships will become more mutually generous, warm and kind. But this week, you might come to terms with the limits of your hopes in accomplishing these wonderful things. They still exist but the possibilities are not endless, are they? You have a better idea of exactly what you can and cannot achieve.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Belief is powerful. No one could break the four-minute mile because it "couldn't be done." But after Bannister succeeded, that same year it happened three more times! (Roger that.) The knowledge that something is possible is empowering! This year Jupiter makes you optimistic. You want to go for the brass ring. These oppositions with Pluto, the second of which occurs this week, (see All Signs) gives you a better understanding about what is actually doable. In other words, yes you are optimistic and hopeful, but now you see what is possible and where you must be realistic and pull in the reins. It's empowering to know your limitations. Thursday's New Moon is the perfect time to rethink your life direction and go for what is really possible to achieve.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

The three oppositions of Jupiter and Pluto from August of last year, to this week, and finally to April - are all related to money, earnings and cash flow for your sign. For some it means you have totally changed jobs or figuring out your source of income. You might also have changed how you relate to your possessions and assets. Quite likely, these changes have been improvements. And they are still going on! By summer, you will have a realistic picture of your earnings and what you can hope to achieve. In your case, it's tied to hard work, even though you're going to play a lot this year as well! Fortunately, there are two of you.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Jupiter was in your sign 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and now in 2013-14. These times are are abundant with opportunities. Life favours you and becomes easier. But for the first time in 250 years, Pluto stands opposite you (including Jupiter in Cancer, which favours you so beautifully). This revolutionizes your relationships with others. Partnerships (intimate and professional) will start to benefit you. Definitely. But you will also have to come to terms with the reality of these partnerships. No more fuzzy thinking. It's becoming clear what you can expect for yourself and who you want to align forces with. The right partner is not some "ideal" out there that you have in your head. The right partner is the person who fits best with you.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

There are three times when Jupiter and Pluto are opposed (last August; this week; and next April.) This opposition, which is a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon for you, stirs up your inner world, your sense of values and your beliefs. For years, you might have nurtured a belief system or a set of values you never questioned. But this year, you cannot hide from some truths that smack you right in the face. It's been uncomfortable and difficult but also revealing and a time of growing up and accepting how life works. You can't kid yourself anymore. You have to acknowledge life, death and "it is what it is." You see in a matter-of-fact way that we are all in this Big Soup together doing the best we can.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Relationships are important now. For one thing, this is a popular year for you. You're making new friends and enjoying greater interaction with others. But more than that, your spiritual life is changing because of these associations. Your world is broadened through others. The people you encounter teach you more and offer you travel opportunities. The upshot is that these interactions will cause you to expect more for yourself in the future. You will demand more from life. You will start to make more ambitious goals for yourself to reach higher or farther because you see more of what you want to explore. Cool!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

With Jupiter at the top of your chart this year, you can promote your reputation. It's a time of promotions, success and knowledge of and what you can do. However, the Pluto opposition has been a sobering influence because you have to accept the limitations of your success. You have to accept what is possible and likely. But isn't that what the definition of maturity is? Accepting your limitations and functioning to the best of your ability within them? It's just reality. Not everyone is going to be an astronaut or even a helicopter pilot. Nevertheless, people admire you now for what you can do. And when this journey of Jupiter is over, you will be far more confident.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You are undergoing changes in what you believe and how to navigate your world. Increased travel, which occurs this year plus increased opportunities to study and learn more will change who you are as a person. New experiences and new ideas will expand your zeitgeist. You are arriving at a realistic assessment about your expectations regarding publishing, the media and exploring opportunities in medicine, the law and higher education. It's a reality check. But this is empowering. If you have to make anything, the first thing you have to know is what you have to work with. Once you know this - you can draw up a plan that's realistic.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

There are three Jupiter/Pluto oppositions: Last August; this week; and the last in April. All of these oppositions are a learning curve in how you relate to shared property, taxes, debt, mortgages and whatever you own jointly with others, including your responsibility for others. Jupiter is your ruler. You are a perennial optimist. This is good! But these three oppositions force you to accept certain limitations regarding shared property, raising money and how much debt you can incur. It's good to expect the best but wise to prepare for the worst. Life is a double-edged sword. You are gambler and every gambler has to know their limits. You can't bet more than you can afford to lose.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Security is important to you. Financial security. Job security. Family security. House and home security. And of course, security in relationships. Your need for security in relationships is undergoing major changes this year. Fear not because ultimately, when the dust settles, you will be more confident because you will know what you can expect from a partnership or close friendship. Having realistic expectations from your partner is half the battle. When you expect more from someone than they can deliver, the ensuing disappointment is toxic. It's not worth it. Basically, you have to know when to hold and when to fold.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

The areas in your life undergoing revolutionary change because of the Jupiter/Pluto opposition (see All Signs) are your health and your job. Many of you are undergoing a change in your job that is for the better. This is because the underlying current with your job scene is that you are more realistic about what to expect for yourself and what you can deliver. This same realism applies to your health. Something has occurred that makes you appreciate the limitations of your health and your body, and therefore, how much you have to take care of yourself. It's easy to take health for granted until it is threatened.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Our work-oriented society stresses career success and fulfillment in our work. But what about play? It's important to be successful in your ability to play, relax and express your talents through arts and crafts, musical performances, writing, drawing, painting plus entertaining others or enjoying good times with friends and playful activities with children. The fun stuff also takes talent! It takes talent to know how to live well. To know how to enjoy one's friends or have a great vacation or fall in love and enjoy affectionate intimacy. This is what you are learning now. You know more about what you reasonably expect for yourself.
