All Signs
A Chinese proverb says, "Dig a well before you're thirsty." Therefore, I want to once again mention Mercury will be retrograde from Oct. 21 to Nov. 11. Mercury retrograde times are poor for starting a business or purchasing Mercury-related items like ground transportation, computers, printers and cell phones. In fact, if you want to make a major purchase (car, truck, motorcycle, computer, etc.), then respect the wider dates of Oct. 12 to Nov. 27 because these dates include when Mercury is either slowing down or has not caught up yet to where it was in the first place. Forearmed is forewarned! Just plan ahead. (Hey, it wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.)
Aries (March 21-April 19)
You need more sleep in the next month because the Sun is as far away from your sign as it gets all year and the Sun is your source of energy. Respect your need for rest or you'll feel worn out. But while the Sun is opposite your sign, you have the best opportunity all year to learn more about yourself through your one-to-one encounters with others. Scrutinize your relationships. Discover what needs they do or do not fill in your life. Consider how you fill others' needs. (Regardless of affection, love or lust, relationships are also practical.) That's why you have to be as good for your partner as he or she is for you. Form working units. Don't go it alone.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
You will be gung ho to get organized in the next month. You want to be efficient, effective and productive. You want to feel you're in control and managing your life. (How well can you kid yourself?) This is why you'll strive to make every action count. Ironically, you will have to serve others and fulfill the needs of someone else. (Even if you're your own boss.) Nevertheless, you'll be pleased if you pull your act together. Naturally, this extends to your body, which is why many of you will begin an exercise regime or start eating healthier. (I've met three perfect people in my life and didn't like any of them.)
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
It's fun city for the next six weeks! Make plans for a vacation because you want fun, relaxation and a change. Basically you want to have a good time! Sports events, working with children and anything to do with the arts, the entertainment world or the hospitality industry will flourish in the next month. In particular, romantic relationships will be lighter and more pleasant. Some could meet new love. (Be still my beating heart.) And while you're having fun, you also have an opportunity to become more aware of who you are. "Know thyself" was the philosophical advice through the ages. (At least, keep your ID handy.)
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
In the next six weeks, your focus is on home, family and your private life. Find your baby blue blanket and assume a fetal position. Many will be more involved with a parent. Something will occur that makes you think about your past and your childhood. You'll enjoy being in familiar surroundings and trading lies with family members about the bad old days. What you want is a feeling of home - something solid, a refuge. And you'll work to create this physically in your surroundings and psychologically in your relationships with family members. And yes, George Burns was right, "Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city."
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
"Where's the action?" This is your motto for the next six weeks as the pace of your life accelerates with activity, short trips, arriving and leaving, talking to lots of people, and perhaps a vacation. (A vacation would be perfect.) Your mind is alive and curious and, above all, you want a break from your daily, ho-hum routine. "I want to live!" (Flinging your arms out like Evita.) You'll love talking to friends, neighbours and relatives as well as writing and reading. You have something to say! And indeed, you can learn a lot about how you handle your daily relationships, especially through your style of communicating to others. Hot tip: You can't hear what others are saying if you're talking.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
"Show me the money!" This is the time of year to reflect on your values and what matters in life. When we think of our values, it's easy to default into thinking about money and possessions. And that has its place. (Especially if the posse is after you.) But really, money and possessions are about security and, to a lesser degree, comfort. You're not your bank account. (You're your car and where you eat.) So this is a good time to examine your relationship to money and all your stuff. Does your stuff help you and make your life easier? Or does your stuff weigh you down? Do you own your stuff or does it own you? The whole point of having stuff is to have greater control of your life and to make life easier, right?
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
It's your time of year, dear Libra. Happy birthday! Because the Sun is in your sign for the next month, this is your chance to recharge your batteries for the rest of the year. It encourages a self-centred approach to life and this is totally appropriate. Relax. You are Numero Uno right now so enjoy it. The world will recognize this as well, which is why you will attract fortunate circumstances and important people to you. Make the most of this! Milk it for all it's worth. Furthermore, you have a need to express yourself. Don't hesitate to do this. Cut the false modesty and martyr bit. It's all about you and your first duty is to yourself. "Garcon!"
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Your year is ending as your birthday approaches. This is why the next month is the perfect time to do some soul-searching. Seek out moments of solitude and look back over the last year, perhaps longer. Give yourself a report card. How do things look? Are you happy with the picture? This is the time to think about how you want your life to be different because you will be entering a fresh new year in a month. In Eastern wisdom, it is said that how a thing begins is how it unfolds. That's why beginnings are important. Beginnings need direction - a vector, a purpose. Yup, we're talking goals. Earl Nightingale said, "People with goals succeed because they know where they are going."
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
In the month ahead, your dance card is full. Everyone wants to see your face! Enjoy this increased popularity and go with the flow. Join classes, clubs, groups and organizations. Call up old friends and make contact. The reason this is important is you are going to study friendships and the role they play in your life. You will also do your best work by co-operating with others in the next six weeks. Enjoy socializing but also enjoy working with others. Team effort will pay off. Your idealism is aroused, which is why you might join groups with a cause close to your heart. Feedback from others will be meaningful to you. ("I see you're not here for the hunting.")
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
The next month is the only time all year when the Sun is at high noon in your chart. Symbolically, this means you are in the limelight. Furthermore, this lighting is flattering, which is why people in authority and power are impressed with you. Naturally, they will approach you with increased responsibilities or requests for your help. Say yes because you don't have to do anything special to dazzle them. Good lighting is everything. (Ask the anointed in Hollywood.) This is also the time to look at your career and your life direction. Are you going in the direction you want? Don't pretend you are anything you're not. Let it all come to you. ("Over here, table 8.")
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
As the Sun shifts into Libra this month, you will want to broaden your horizons through travel, study, adventure, new and unfamiliar experiences, plus meeting people from different backgrounds and other countries. You're so eager and hungry to learn, it's a great time to go back to school or study or take up a new hobby. Naturally one of the best ways to expand your world is to travel. Go anywhere if possible. Do something different. If you can't get away, then travel on your own turf. Be a tourist in your own city. You will love heady, profound discussions about politics, religion, philosophy and what people think about Windows 8 or their hydro company. (The euphemism is "learning curve.")
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Expect to focus on debt, inheritances, shared property, insurance matters, taxes and all that red-tape stuff. (Money for lawyers.) But you can't ignore it. You want to get more control of your life by sorting out past issues related to these areas. You will also have to deal with someone whose values are different from yours. This is never easy because you feel you are right and they are wrong - naturally. (They feel the same way about you.) Voltaire said, "Doubt is an uncomfortable position but certainty is absurd." Meanwhile, back in the bedroom, sex will be hot and passionate! (You win some, you lose some.)
