All Signs

The New Moon this Thursday is a powerful New Moon. It joins three other planets and sits opposite the karmic planet of Saturn. That's why this week is especially favourable for making resolutions in different areas of our lives - depending on our sign. Everything in life begins with a thought. From the thought springs the word and the word soon becomes the deed; the deed quickly becomes habit and eventually, habit hardens into character. Witness how powerful thoughts are! They create our world. Make use of this week to better your life. Earl Nightingale said, "People with goals succeed because they know where they're going." Lily Tomlin said, "I thought I wanted a career. Turns out I just wanted paycheques."

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This is the only New Moon all year putting your focus on money, cash flow, earnings and possessions. What's your attitude to money? Do you think it's filthy lucre or do you see it as energy to get things done? Your attitude to something will affect how it manifests in your life - that is certain. And what about everything you own? Do you respect what you own? Do you take care of it? Or do you own stuff you haven't seen for years? Now is the time to resolve to make what you own work for you and get rid of or recycle what you no longer need. When you feel in control of your finances and possessions you feel confident and powerful.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Oh my. The only New Moon in your sign all year is taking place this week. Powerful stuff. Remember: The New Moon is something that is real. It's not just a random date like January 1 that was picked by a committee. Make good use of this unusual opportunity this week. Don't waste it. Take a realistic look in the mirror and ask yourself what you can do to improve your image. Similarly, be honest and ask yourself how you can relate to others better. How can you be friendlier, more caring and more attentive? People know down deep if you are really listening or just being polite. You can't even fool your dog.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Whether you're aware of it or not, events and issues around you now prompt a more personal acquaintance with your inner world. Call this spiritual or anything you want, but life is making you more aware of what goes on behind the scenes, especially in your own mind. You will get the most out of this process of you are aware of it, but even if you aren't, there will be deep stirrings within. Your effectiveness as a human being is being tested. Don't scatter your energy, save it for yourself. Protect your health. What's really happening is you're getting ready for a debut in a few years. Your coming-out party!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Friendships and relationships with groups are important now because this is where the New Moon occurs this week (and it's the only time all year this will happen). Think about the people you hang out with because they influence you a lot. That's why they say birds of a feather flock together. (And of course, birds of a feather flock to newly washed cars.) Be mindful of your friends and acquaintances because they influence your mind, and your mind then makes choices, and these choices will shape the rest of your life. Friends and acquaintances also influence your goals. They encourage you or discourage and distract you. Think about this.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

The New Moon this week is at high noon in your chart and this is the only time all year this occurs. That means this is the best time all year to give thought to your life direction. Are you headed where you want to go? Do you even know where you want to go? If you're not sure, this is a perfect week to think about it. You might start backwards. What would the perfect picture look like for you in five years? Where would you be living? What would you be doing? Visualize this and you will get a better idea of what it is you want to achieve. Start from perfection and then just scale back to reality. It might help.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

The textbooks say we learn more in the first two years of our life than we do in the rest of our life put together. Nevertheless, we keep on learning because if we stop learning, we start dying. The New Moon this week is the only New Moon all year to challenge how you are growing and learning. What training, courses or schooling can you get to help you in your job? What can you learn this year to enrich your life? You're an information junkie. You adore learning! It revs your engines and makes you more excited and enthusiastic about life. Since you know this, do you have plans to learn something new? Travel is a rich option as well.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

There are two ways we control our wealth and assets. We earn money, choose where we live and buy what we want. In this, we generally have full control. But there's another area, where our money, assets and possessions are tied up with others. Perhaps this is because we have a mortgage or credit card debt. In other words, other people are in the picture. They might even "own" our possessions. The wealth of our partners and people close to us and family members, including inheritances, can also be part of the picture and yet, we don't have total control. It is this secondary area - where we share debt and wealth with others - that is your primary focus this week. How can you improve this area?

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

There is a concentration of planets directly opposite your sign. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Saturn is now in your sign for the first time since 1983-1986. ("These are perilous times for the Federation.") This means you have just finished giving up a lot. Some of you have dismantled whatever you created since 1999. You had to do this because you are moving on. Now you're in a new sandbox creating a new life for yourself. The New Moon this week is the only one all year that offers you opportunities to think about what you want partnerships to be in your life. Be specific. Write down what you want.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

How appropriate that the New Moon this week (and the only one all year) is prodding you to think about how to become more efficient, more productive and more effective. Why is this appropriate? Because that's what you want to be right now! You're trying to do so much, why not do it as effectively, efficiently and productively as possible? I say thee, yay! You can do this. Make lists. Think of how you can perform better in your job and in your daily life at home. But don't stop there. Think about how you can improve your health so that your body is the best tool for you it could be. (But be careful what you read. You don't want to die of a misprint.)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You believe that hard work and struggle are character building. A basic Capricorn axiom is, "No pain, no gain." You have always been suspicious of frivolity and wanton pleasure. And of course, there is truth to your way of thinking. Nevertheless, laughter, pleasure, playfulness, romantic involvements, vacations, and certainly opportunities to express our creativity are vital to enriching our lives and making us feel vibrant and whole. The New Moon this week (the only one all year) challenges you to scrutinize your life. Do you give yourself enough play time? Do you laugh with friends? Do you enjoy the company of children? How do you express your creativity?

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

For your sign, this New Moon (the only one all year) offers you a chance to think about how you can improve your family relationships, especially with parents and authority figures. Do you value your family relationships? Are they important in your life? If they are, how can you improve them? And furthermore, how can you improve where you live? This is your chance to address some of the most fundamental issues in your life because family and home are our support systems. They give us safety and strength so that we can sally forth into the world and slay dragons (or defrag hard drives).

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Humans are gregarious creatures. We need each other. We want to talk and we need to listen. We certainly need to be heard. This means your ability to communicate to others effectively is vital to your happiness. If you genuinely listen to others and are entertaining in your own speech - people will flock to you. If you are self-centred and disinterested in others, no one will pay you any attention. The New Moon this week is your best chance to observe your style of communicating with others, especially daily contacts, siblings, neighbours and relatives. Too often, we never really appreciate someone until they're gone. Make sure you say what you need to say while you can.
