All Signs

This week, on July 1, there is a Solar Eclipse in the sign of Cancer, occurring at 4:54 AM EDT. (For those who are interested, the Eclipse can easily be viewed in a small area just off the coast of Antarctica.) But of interest to everyone, it will be a New Moon, which means we all have an opportunity to pull our act together in new areas of our lives. Why? Each New Moon is a chance to make resolutions or set intentions! Therefore, why not use this to our advantage? In this interconnected, binary universe full of peptides, photons and hypothalamic neuropeptides (hey --I took Geography) why not grab every chance to make our lives run more smoothly? After all, nothing risque, nothing gained!

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Things look very good for you! Friday's New Moon is a wonderful opportunity for you to think how you can improve family relationships, and also how you can improve your own relationship with where you live. How can you spruce up your digs? What can you do to make yourself feel better about your personal world? Mars is giving you lots of energy to meet new people and explore new places. What about entertaining these people at home? If you pull your place together, you can to throw an "impromptu" party! ("Why don't you come up and see me sometime, when I've got nothing on but the radio?")

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

The New Moon this week focuses your attention on your style of communicating with others. (In particular, your communications with siblings, relatives and neighbours.) It's especially important for you to be clear in your communications right now because fiery Mars is activating your earnings and your cash flow in the next two months. You'll work hard to earn money and just as hard to spend it! With all this cash lying around, you don't want misunderstandings. You want to be able to make it clear to others what they can expect from you and vice versa. (Leave the money on my doorstep before midnight.)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You're really pumped with energy now that Mars is in your sign. (This summer is going to be a blast!) Frankly, you're up for anything. Literally. However, this week, the New Moon is urging you to take a serious look at your cash flow scene and your earnings. So, what's the picture? Can you earn more money in a different way? Are you making the best use of whatever you currently own? This is where you need to pull your act together in the immediate future: how you earn money, how you spend money, and how you take care of your possessions. Fortunately, you have the energy and enthusiasm to get busy!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

The only New Moon all year in your sign is taking place this week. This creates opportunities for you in two ways. First, take a realistic look in the mirror and think about what you can do to improve your image. (Hey -- you never get a second chance to make a first impression.) Second, ask yourself what you can do to improve your closest relationships with partners and close friends. Because these relationships matter! Since you're involved in behind-the-scenes activities right now - might this lead to misunderstandings or incorrect assumptions on the part of anyone? Think about it.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

It's curious because the New Moon this week is taking place in a hidden part of your chart. (The tail wagging the dog?) Actually, this simply means that this is a wonderful chance for you to focus on your spiritual life, and think about what you can do to enhance your inner world. It's so easy to get caught up in the external stuff, isn't it? But if things are right inside - it ripples outward to your external world. Group activities offer new chances to explore new realms. However, competition with a friend might be a learning lesson for you right now. (Yeah yeah, who wants to learn that bad?) Career opportunities continue to come your way. Yahoo!

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This is the only New Moon all year that urges you to scrutinize your friends. Hey -- your friends have a huge influence on you because they affect your mind, and your mind makes your decisions, and your decisions lead to your future. This is major stuff! So what's the story? Do you hang out with quality people? Do you admire your friends? A woman once asked the Dalai Lama how she could get friends in her life, and he said, "Be friendly!" Because your ambition is aroused now, you might be threatening to others - inadvertently or unwittingly. (Put down the gun and step away from the car.) Be nice.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Glory hallelujah! The New Moon this week is at high noon in your chart. Right up there in the heavens. The message from this is that now is the time to think about your life direction in general. (Pretty heady stuff.) For starters, are you going in the direction that you want to go? Do you know where you want to be or what you want to be doing five years from now? Do you have a plan? (Not what's for dinner.) Impulsive travel plans are exciting right now. Others are just as excited about something happening in higher education, publishing, the media, the law or medicine. What do you see in your future? (Oops, that's why you're reading this column, isn't it?)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

This is an exciting New Moon for your sign because the area the Moon is stirring up relates to foreign travel, higher learning, exploring new ideas, philosophies and religions, meeting people from other cultures, and checking out new angles in publishing, the media, the law and medicine. What a mixed bag! Where do you want to travel in the next year? What do you want to learn in the next year? Do you have publishing ambitions or are you hopeful about something in the media, the law or medicine? (It's time for a plan, Stan.) Because you have such big hopes and dreams, write down some ideas. Take a look at things in black-and-white.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

It looks like you're caught up in issues with shared property or something that's jointly owned, or perhaps taxes, debt, inheritances or anything where you're heavily involved with others, especially partnerships. You might be unusually focused on the wealth of your partner, for example. (Where is it? I want half.) There's no question that friction with others is a likelihood this summer because Mars is opposite your sign. And when Mars is opposite your sign, your patience is tested. (There will be a midterm on this next Wednesday.) This is your chance to figure out exactly what you want from others. Make sure it is clear in your own mind before you make it clear in someone else's mind.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Oh my. This week the only New Moon directly opposite your sign all year is taking place. Needless to say, you are super focused on partnerships. This includes spouses, intimate partners, close friends and professional partnerships. Perhaps you have some important decisions to make? One thing is certain: for a partnership to be successful, you must be as good for your partner is he or she is for you. This goes without saying. (But I said it anyhow.) Don't worry about work right now because this is where you easily create your own opportunities. You're a dynamo! Just think about the arrangement that would make you the happiest in your closest relationships. Make it so.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

It looks like it's time for you to focus on health, your employment scene and perhaps even your relationship with small pets (this includes silverfish). The New Moon this week is the only one all year that will make you want to focus on these areas. Or to put it in a better way - this New Moon is offering you a chance to think about how to improve these areas. What can you do to improve your health? What can you do to improve your job? You have a wonderful time of harvest and fruition just a few years away. Of course this is the perfect time to think about making your work more joyful and rewarding. (Whether it's a paid job or not.)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

We don't stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing. It's curious that the heavens now urge you to party. The New Moon this week is the only one all year that brings you the opportunity to assess the balance you have in your life, between play and work. Furthermore, what about the balance between everything else you do versus the time you take to express your creativity? Some people do this easily - some rarely do it. (We're talking more than singing in the shower, although that's a good start.) Another area this New Moon highlights is your relationship with children. It also includes sports, socializing and fun vacations. Surely you are not all work and no play? (With your closet of shoes?)
