All Signs
On Friday and Saturday (Nov. 5 and 6) we have the only New Moon in Scorpio all year. Each month, the New Moon occurs in a different sign, offering us different chances to make resolutions. Recently, a reader told me she faithfully writes down new resolutions every New Moon even if she doesn't follow them. I thought, "Whaat?" Then I realized, "Of course!" Make a resolution even if that's all you do. The act of making a resolution is the first step. Hey -- it's got your attention. Everything in life begins with a thought. Read on to discover where this New Moon can help you set new intentions even if you don't follow them. (It's like that private thrill you get lounging around doing nothing when you have tons of work to do.) Love it!
Aries (March 21-April 19)
This week on Friday/Saturday, the New Moon is the best time all year to think about how to handle shared property, inheritances, taxes, debt, and anything you share with others. This includes how you relate to your partner's income and wealth. Are you happy with how you handle these areas? Do you want to introduce changes? What about your sex life? (No hysterics, please.) This is also a good time to think about what you want in the world of sex. Just put it out there to the universe as a random thought. The more specific the better. It's best if you actually write it down. S-E-X.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
This is an interesting New Moon because it's opposite your sign. Yup, we're talking 180. On Friday/Saturday this week, you can benefit by thinking how to improve your closest partnerships and friendships. Probably, this begins by scrutinizing what kind of a partner or friend you are. Would you want you for a partner? Basically, for a relationship to be successful, you must be as good for your partner as he or she is for you. Right? How do you stack up in this category? What can you do to improve your closest relations? What might be one tiny thing? Write it down, or say it out loud to yourself (but not on the bus).
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
There are two areas that you can focus on with the New Moon, especially on Friday/Saturday this week. Those areas are your job and anything to do with your health. They are equally important, and they offer you equal chances to make resolutions to improve your life in some way. So what can you do to improve your job, or get a better job, or improve how you do your job? Even if you think of just one or two things, and start to focus on whatever they are, this will help you, won't it? Ditto for your health. What's just one or two things that you can do to be healthier? (There's no such thing as a small whiskey.)
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
This week, specifically Friday/Saturday, is the best time all year for you to get more enjoyment and fulfillment from romance, love affairs, parties, social occasions and all that fun stuff. Are you having enough fun stuff? What about vacations? Are you giving yourself any kind of a vacation? What about sports? Do you have plans to enjoy sports, or playful activities with children? This New Moon hypes these areas for your sign, as well as anything to do with the arts and your ability to express your creativity. What a lot to think about! Basically, are you indulging your need to have fun and be creative? That's what it comes down to. Remember: life is short -- and fat.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
When the New Moon occurs on Friday/Saturday, it's your best chance all year to think about how you can improve your relations with family members. Might this involve helping others? Or planning a family vacation? Or having a reunion? Or seeing family members on a more regular basis? Different strokes for different folks. This New Moon also urges you to think about how to improve where you live and enjoy your home more. The Leo home is the Leo castle. You like to feel pampered, privileged, and special. What can you do to give yourself this feeling at home? (Short of hiring a personal valet.)
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Your opportunity with this New Moon is about your daily communications with others, especially relatives and siblings. This probably feels appropriate. Basically, it boils down to this: This is your best chance all year (specifically, Friday/Saturday) to scrutinize your style of communicating to others, and think about ways to improve all your communications. Hey, are you a good listener? Or do you just wait for the other person to finish so you can jump in? Do others grasp what you say or are there lots of misunderstandings? If you experience misunderstandings at work and at home, you might be part of this formula -- ya think?
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
Woody Allen was right, "Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons." A heavy concentration of planets urges you to focus on earnings, cash flow, and what you do with your money. The New Moon on Friday/Saturday is perhaps your best chance all year to make some resolutions about how to improve your financial situation. Do you want to earn more? Or perhaps the key is to save more? Do you need to dream up money-making ideas? Do you need to take better care of what you already own? How are you handling the assets that you have? Do your possessions own you or do you own them? Is it time to tighten your loose change?
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
The Sun is in Scorpio; the New Moon on Friday/Saturday is in Scorpio; Mercury is in Scorpio and so is Venus! The entire world is experiencing intense, polarized, black-and-white feelings about many, many things. (There are no grays with Scorpio.) For you personally, two areas require your focus and attention. Use the opportunity of the only New Moon in your sign all year to think about your appearance. (What kind of a first impression do you create on others?) And also use this special time of opportunity to focus on partnerships. Do your partnerships benefit you and vice versa? Do you feel enriched or enslaved? This is serious stuff.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
More than any other sign, this week you might come up with hidden, genius-like ideas that are epiphanies. (If an apple falls in the forest, and no one is there to hear it, will it sound like a fruit or a laptop?) Trust your ability to explore deeper, meaningful issues. These issues could be spiritual, or just personal things you're wrestling with. But they count because whatever you believe in affects all your choices. You're the philosopher of the zodiac, and yeah, yeah, you party with the best of them. But you guys really think! Trust your gut instincts and bright ideas this week. You might dream up something worth taking to the bank. Especially on Thursday/Friday.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
This is an auspicious New Moon because it occurs in the part of your chart that's about long-term goals. Meanwhile, back at the planetarium, the whole point of any New Moon is to make resolutions. That means this is the only New Moon all year that gives you a huge opportunity to scrutinize, study, and assess your hopes and dreams for the future. What are they? This really makes sense because you're entering one of the most powerful times of your life. If you want to make the most of it, you have to know where you want to go in the long run, right? Do you think it's as simple as "the one with the most toys wins?" What do you really want? What's it all about, Alfie?
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
This week, the New Moon on Friday/Saturday occurs at the top of your chart. This is the only time all year this will happen. In some ways, it means something about your life is a bit more high viz. than usual. Others, (like bosses, parents, teachers) will learn about or discover something about your personal life. (This could be anything from being a great chef to a cross-dresser.) Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
It's easy to go on day after day and not really learn anything fresh and exciting. But when you have a chance to stretch your mind, life is thrilling! That's what this New Moon is all about. It takes place on Friday/Saturday, and urges you to think about what you can do to get further education, further training, or perhaps travel somewhere so that you can broaden your experience of life. Exciting stuff! What can you do to expand your world? Can you take a course? Learn a new language? Or sign up for dancing? Whatever you learn can be artistic, the performing arts, classical education, pop psychology, philosophy, religion, or something about other cultures.
