All Signs
Here's the celestial forecast for this week. With a high coming in from the West, and a low coming in from the East, it looks like we'll have a hoe down in Calgary. (Kidding.) Mercury is still retrograde in Virgo, Jupiter slips back into Pisces, Venus moves into Scorpio, and Mars does a lovely dance with Neptune. However, this is also the week of the New Moon, and that is what I'm going to talk about. Hey -- each month we have a different New Moon offering us a different set of opportunities, so why not explore this? Of course, you can ignore this. No big deal. (I always say it's bad luck to be superstitious.)
Aries (March 21-April 19)
This is the best time in the entire year to turn over a new leaf with any kind of personal health regime. What can you do to improve your health? Often, it's a two-pronged approach. On one hand, you can reduce doing something harmful, and on the other hand, you can drop the Twinkie and encourage a beneficial, health-giving habit. For example, you might cut back on booze, tobacco, salt, sugar, or size of portions and, at the same time, increase your amount of exercise or fruit and vegetables in your diet. (Obvious, I know.) Similarly, you can ask yourself what you can do to improve your job. This is the only New Moon all year giving you this fabulous opportunity. Why not use it?
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
This is a wonderfully playful time! Retrograde Mercury brings old flames back into the picture. This might give you a lift or a shock. However, not only are the Sun and Mercury urging you to play, this is also where the New Moon occurs. One of the things you might want to ask yourself is how seriously do you value your creativity? You respect your money. You respect your bank account. You respect your possessions that are valuable. What about your valuable talents? For example, many of you can sing. Have you been singing lately? You are more alive and your life is more enriched when you use your creative expression. I know this sounds touchy-feely, but it's true.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Your focus is totally about home, family, and real estate right now. Of course, retrograde Mercury is putting you in touch with all kinds of information and relatives you haven't seen or thought about for a long time. Family visits and family reunions are classic at this time. It's also a great time to wind up real-estate deals. This particular New Moon puts a different spin on things, however. It urges you to think about how you can improve things at home, as well is how you can improve your family relationships, and your relationships with anyone at home. Don't be overly ambitious. What are perhaps just two things you can do? Be realistic -- but try them. (You will only benefit yourself.)
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Things are tough right now because retrograde Mercury is taking place in a deadly part of your chart. Its retrograde activity occurs where it "lives" i.e. with communications and transportation. You are a victim of Murphy's Law! Fortunately, surprise travel plans or plans related to publishing, higher education, the media, medicine, and the law might drop in your lap in the next few weeks. Note: This window of opportunity will be brief so you will have to act fast. This New Moon urges you to be more aware of your style of communicating. Are you is clear or as considerate as you can be? How can you improve your communicating manner?
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
Many Leos are suffering from a money crunch (you're buying cheaper wine). Cheques in the mail are late. Old business is on your plate. Fortunately, it's easy to clear up old business. And money from previous jobs might come through. (That's something.) But in the bigger picture (you always see the big picture), the New Moon this week urges you to give serious thought to your life values. What really matters? I think this is where most of us get lost. We forget what we're doing. (Whether it is being a parent, a spouse, an employee, an employer, an artist, whatever.) Ask yourself what you're really doing, and then ask yourself how you can do it better.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
This is an extraordinary time. For starters, the Sun is in your sign, which mean you're starting a new personal year! That's the good news. The bad news is retrograde Mercury is also in your sign driving you bonkers with mixed-up communications, lost items, cancelled appointments and transportation delays. Ahhhiiii! But lo! The only New Moon in your sign all year is taking place this week. So? This offers you a fabulous opportunity to take a realistic look in the mirror, and decide how you can improve your image. (You never get a second chance to create a first impression.) What can you do to improve your looks? What can you do to improve your closest relationships? This is serious stuff.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
So much is happening behind the scenes. (People can see you talking into your sleeve. Better yet, use the Cone of Silence and confess all to Agent 99.) Because so much is taking place behind the scenes, you can accomplish a lot by working alone. Furthermore, any kind of research you need to do now will yield excellent results. And with fiery Mars in your sign, you are gung ho! At a more profound level, this is a time to take stock of your spiritual world. What do you do to promote your peace of mind? You never hesitate to promote your need for social fun and pleasure. In the same way, your spiritual world might also need your attention. "Hellooo? Anyone at home?"
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Old friends and acquaintances from the past are back in your face. It's good to have history with others. (Shocking how others age, isn't it?) Without question, this is a time when you need to address your future goals. What are your dreams for the future? What do you wish would be totally possible for you? Your sign rules magnets. Factoid. More than any other sign, you have the ability to magnetize situations to you. You might want to be aware of your focus because whatever you are focused on generally manifests. Have you noticed this? Your life will undergo changes in the next few years as you downsize and let go of what is no longer relevant. (Yup.)
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Wow! You are so high viz. Bosses, parents, teachers and VIPs notice you. (So do the police.) Good to be aware of this. Fortunately, these authority figures in your life are actually impressed with you right now, even if you don't do anything special. (It's the great lighting.) Therefore, you should milk this for all it's worth. Retrograde Mercury attracts interaction with previous bosses as well. However, the New Moon this week is probably the best week all year for you to think of your life direction in general. Are you headed where you want to go? To put it another way: is where you are headed your choice? How much control do you have? Hmmm?
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
Everything to do with publishing, the media, higher education, as well as medicine and the law are a strong focus. Some of you are dealing with foreign countries. Others are travelling. You might hear news from faraway, or from people connected with previous travels. This week, however, your greatest opportunity to do something for yourself is to ask how you can enrich your life through further studies or exploring any of the above areas. What can you do to strengthen your skills, your opportunities, and your ability to look successful in the eyes of others? You care about your public reputation. What can you do to improve it?
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
The next few weeks are a wonderful time for unexpected financial opportunities for you. Some of you might have a real windfall. Meanwhile, back at the bank, you're focused on shared property, inheritances, taxes, debt and anything you own jointly with others. This is a good time to wrap up loose details in old matters. The New Moon this week is your best chance all year to ponder how to best tackle these issues. But more than that, it's also the best time to think about how your values differ from the values of others, and how you can learn to live with these differences! Aagghh! (Kill me with a spoon.) This can be challenging.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Partnerships continue to be challenging. Ex-partners are back in your life. Small wonder the only New Moon all year that's opposite your sign is occurring! What does this mean? It means this is your best chance all year to focus on partnerships. Battles about shared property and different values might take place; nevertheless, now is the time to ask yourself how you can improve the partnerships and close friendships you value. Fortunately, lucky moneybags Jupiter is aligned with unpredictable Uranus in your sign. Something wonderful and surprising might happen! It behooves you to raise your sights on what is actually possible. Believe in a miracle!
