Two major happenings! The New Moon takes place in a 48-hour window during April 14-15, and Mercury retrograde occurs from April 17 to May 12. (Oy vey.)Every month, each New Moon is an opportunity to set intentions or make resolutions. About three times a year, Mercury goes retrograde driving us crazy with delays, mistakes, goofy errors, transportation stalls, and ex-partners showing up in our world. This backwards quality of Mercury is a drag and yet, it's a wonderful opportunity for introspection, and a chance to finish what's already on our plates. Let's regard the past, and set goals for the future. Fortunately dreams are free, (although there's often a small charge for alterations.)
When both the Sun and Moon are in your sign as they are this week (which happens only once a year) you couldn't pick a better time to make new resolutions. Focus on your appearance, and the image you present to the world. (Hey - you never get a second chance to make a first impression.) Look in the mirror. Do you like what you see? Can you polish your image? Meanwhile in another part of the forest, Mercury retrograde is hitting your earnings and possessions. Expect to misplace or lose things. Be mindful. Cheques will be late in the mail. The good news is you might have a second chance to earn money in a way that previously bombed.
Fasten your seatbelt! This week Mercury goes retrograde in your sign. You already feel it because Mercury has been slowing down since April 9. Know this -- you aren't losing it! Expect to make errors, silly goofs, forget things, lose things, break things, miss appointments, miss busses, have car or truck problems (ditto for bikes) and just feel hexed. Furthermore, ex-partners are back in your face again. (This could be a welcome thing or mildly horrific.) Guard against this stuff! Make lists. Do some damage control to minimize what might happen. Stay on top of vehicles repairs. Allow extra time for everything. Double check appointment times and places. Tidy your scene to feel more "on top."
Yes, your ruler Mercury is going retrograde. However, my advice is to grab the best opportunity that the stars are offering to you, which is this: get serious about your dreams and wishes for the future! This week is the only time all year that the New Moon is in the part of your chart that is about future hopes. If you don't know what you're hoping for, how can you make the right choices? You have to know what you want. Not simply because of the Law of Attraction, but simply because of common sense. What do you wish for yourself? In your perfect world, where do you live, what are you doing, who are you with? (It's best if you actually jot this stuff down.)
This week the only New Moon at high noon in your chart (for the entire year) is occurring. This is a wonderful opportunity to think about your life direction in general. Specifically, are you headed in the direction you want to go? Perhaps more important, do you know where you want to go? The top of your chart also relates to authority figures in your life -- parents, teachers, bosses, VIPs, and even the police. Can you improve your life in any way by changing how you deal with these people? The whole point of making a resolution is to make you happier, and make your life easier. Meanwhile, retrograde Mercury will bring old friends back into your world. (It's nice to have history with people.)
Mercury retrograde brings involvement with "old business" with authority figures. People might be on your case to finish stuff. Or it might just be the natural order of business. Certainly, it will be easier to finish old business -- that's a given. Nevertheless, things could fall between the cracks, specifically communications with authority figures. Silly confusions and misunderstandings might arise. Don't get on the defensive. Don't assume the worst. The odds are it's a silly misunderstanding. (I'm sure it means nothing that the door to your office is locked, all your belongings are in boxes on the street, and someone has taken your parking space.)
Expect travel delays and cancellations during the next month, especially in the next few weeks. Similar delays and mixed up communications could occur with publishing, the media, and anything to do with colleges, universities and areas of secondary education or training. You might lose papers. ("My thesis!") You might have misunderstandings with others. Do not take offense because when Mercury is retrograde, and it really is a miscommunication. Meanwhile, the New Moon this week is your best chance to think about how you can clean up your act with bills, shared property, insurance matters, wills and inheritances. Now is the time to return borrowed items. You might also ask for your stuff back as well. Why not?
The only New Moon all year is taking place directly opposite your sign. Eyes across a crowded room and all that. This means this is your best opportunity all year to think about what you can do to improve your partnerships and your closest friendships. Others want to know that you care for them. Do you tell them this? Are they supposed to guess or intuit your behavior? Don't leave people in the dark. Life is too short (and fat). Tell loved ones how much you care for them. What have you got to lose? It's the quickest way to deepen a bond and you know it. Meanwhile, retrograde Mercury demands that you stay on top of bills, loans and your debt scene to avoid some nasty surprises. "They charged a late fee!"
The New Moon each month occurs in a different sign, and offers you different opportunities. This particular New Moon is the best one all year for you to think about how to improve your job, how you do your job, as well is how to improve your health. Pretty basic important stuff! (These areas are more closely related than you think.) Write down just two things that would improve how you do your job, and two ways you can improve your health. If you really want to make this work, you can write down these things every morning or every night. (There's a difference between reading them and writing them down again.) You might be pleasantly shocked at the results in a few months.
Mercury retrograde is causing hassles, delays at work, mixed up communications, canceled appointments, lost paperwork, staff shortages, equipment breakdowns and the like. (There's no way to sugarcoat this except to say that these annoyances are minor not major.) You can prepare yourself for them by anticipating what could possibly go wrong. Try hard to be very clear in your communications. Make extra copies of things. Make lists. Double check work and equipment. Line up replacements and backups. Don't play things close to the line. Similar stresses to health matters might concern you. Fortunately, Mercury retrograde is over by May 12. Hang in there. You will survive!
Old flames and ex-lovers are back on the scene again. This could be exciting, or it could cause a problem, if your current partner is jealous. (Maybe they don't have to be jealous. Maybe they only have to have half a brain?) Mercury retrograde is useful to rehash old business about children. Meanwhile, this is a wonderful week to make resolutions about how to improve your home, and your relations with family members. (I know it's tough being nostalgic when you have a bad memory, but home -- white picket fence, 2.5 kids, the whole enchilada -- matters a lot to you.) What is your perfect picture for your home life? What do you want? Write down some things that are important to you at home, and in family relationships.
Stock the fridge. Relatives and old friends will descend on your home in the next month. This is an excellent time for a family reunion! Mercury retrograde urges you to get together with family members and trade lies about the bad old days. However, Mercury retrograde can also introduce equipment failure, mining minor breakages at home, and confused communications! This is almost a guarantee. Remind yourself that nothing is intentional. The confused communications are just confused. This week's New Moon is your best chance to make resolutions about dealing with siblings, relatives, and daily contacts.
This particular Mercury retrograde will get you where you live because it's taking place in the part of your chart where Mercury lives! Expect delays and problems with cars, trucks, and bicycles, and definitely confused communications with others. Plus late mail, lost papers, and misunderstandings, especially with siblings. It's an accident-prone time. Fortunately, all this is hangnail stuff. We're not talking major. You can handle this! Allow extra time for everything. Being clear in all your communications. Give yourself enough time to do stuff. Don't rush. (Why not play Bureaucracy? That's where everyone stands in a circle and the first person who does anything loses.)
