All Signs
This year begins with Mercury retrograde. (The last time this happened was 2004 and also 2003.) There will be theme this year that includes moments of dejā vu. We'll be dealing with the past. (Personally, I prefer moments of Dijon vu, where the smell of hot dogs reminds you of childhood fairs and baseball games. These shouldn't be confused with moments of vujā de, where something occurs that reminds you of absolutely nothing.) Read on to see where the past might come back to haunt you in the coming year. Of course, it's been said the only thing in life that is certain is the past. But I don't think this is true. I'm always revising my past. I intend to have a happy childhood!
Aries (March 21-April 19)
You're dealing with authority figures from your past -- parents, teachers, bosses, the police, and VIPs. This could be because you're running into people after a time of absence . Or it could be because you're dealing with issues from the past relating to authority figures in your life. This might be the opportunity for closure for something right now, or later this year for you. It could also be indication that you're revisiting some old goals or returning to an old life direction that now has more meaning for you. Romance with someone older, richer, more experienced, or in a position of authority might also be rekindled or triggered. This could be memorable!
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Right now, and perhaps for the rest of the year, you're very much focused on issues with higher education, travel to foreign countries, publishing, the media, dealing with other cultures, as well as medicine and the law. Perhaps you have opportunities in these areas that are back in your lap again? Or perhaps some of you are returning to a place you traveled to before? With Jupiter crossing the top of your chart this year, you can expect wonderful opportunities from many directions. Maybe you have to retrace your steps to make the most of something? You might immerse yourself in another culture, language, or group of people from your past. It's rather exotic. (Exotic is nice, especially if it feels or tastes good.)
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
This is a time of wrapping up loose details with shared property, old debt, taxes, inheritances, and anything you own jointly with someone else. Actually, this could be an indication of what will happen for the entire year. Something in these areas is definitely left over from your past. Since travel and educational plans plus opportunities in publishing and the media are so promising, perhaps you need to wipe your slate clean in one of these areas? Once you have this monkey off your back, you'll be free! (And freedom is so nice, especially if you want to go somewhere.) "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose."
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
This year begins, and continues (I am sure of it) with an emphasis on ex-partners and close friends from your past. It's that old movie again resurrecting itself in your life! You might welcome it or you could be horrified. Quite likely, you are happy to have these people back in your life. To begin with, it gives you an opportunity to wrap up old business from the past. You're often reluctant to let go of things, including people. You stay in the wrong relationships too long. Now you have a chance to deal with something in an adult, mature way. (Sit up, be a person.) Actually, joining forces with someone from your past might boost your own coffers. Shared property and the like might help you. Ka-ching!
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
As this year begins, and unfolds, you will be focused on past health issues, as well as your employment scene. Something that you already have on your plate has to be finished! You might be facing an operation or the correction of health issues that you've been postponing. Likewise, many of you are going to work hard to finish something you began related to your job. The good news is it will be easy to go back and finish whatever you started. The downside will be that initiating new business could be ponderous, if not nigh on impossible. The support of others, partners and working units, will be important for you to do one or both of these things. "I get by with a little help from my friends."
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
What many people do not know is that the old Chinese saying "May you live in interesting times" was actually a curse. Right now, and later this year, you might appreciate an aspect of this! Many of you are dealing with old flames and ex-lovers, which, let's face it -- is really a crapshoot. This could be pleasant, or not! Naturally, it depends on how the relationship ended. In the same vein, (but your other arm) some of you are vacationing someplace you went before, or dealing with old issues about children. Others might fall madly in love with somebody you met previously. Suddenly, you see this person in a different light!
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
Right now you are dealing with old family issues. Others are focusing on something to do with home that really has to be finally finished. Or else! (Why is the threat of "or else" so forbidding? Why can't it mean - or else you win a trip for two to Hawaii! Or - or else you win the lottery!) Perhaps this is a wonderful time for closure about certain family wishes or your relationship with a relative? You might be saying goodbye to someone. Family will definitely play a big role in your life at this time, and probably for this entire year. Some of you will finish some cherished ideas about redecorating. Finally done! Oh joy!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Right now you feel it's one step forward, two steps backward. No fair! Transportation delays, communication foul-ups, and crazy mistakes with messages, meetings, and paperwork dog your footsteps. It's not that you're not trying to get a lot done, because you are. In fact, your ambition is strongly aroused! But all these little glitches and goofy errors are frustrating. You might be dealing with relatives and siblings more than usual this year, as no doubt, you are at this very moment. It's just what it is. This is also a good time to finish writing projects, or anything that you've been studying or teaching or even making. Your ability to wrap things up now will surprise even you!
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Your focus is definitely on old money issues right now. This could relate to a job you had once before or a previous way of earning money. It could be something that affects your cash flow. Similarly, you might be dealing with old issues about something you own. Whatever it is, you want to wrap this up and go forward. Nevertheless, I suspect you'll be dealing with some aspect of this financial matter (or issue related to something you own) for much of this year. But in the long run it will benefit you. You will likely come out ahead, and richer! You might even secure a new source of earning money or a better way of earning money. (Both of which were ideas you had before.)
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
There is a quality of looping back into the past either literally in the details of your life right now, or in your mind, and your memory, and what you're thinking about. Something in your life is recurring. It could cause you to make errors, be forgetful, misplace things, miss appointments, and feel confused in conversations. "Whaaat? I thought we were meeting tomorrow!") At this time, many of you are also dealing with partners as well. Despite the clumsy, inefficient, influence of Mercury retrograde in your sign, this is also a wonderful opportunity to solidify, secure and make better sense of things. Now you see how everything fits into the big picture.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
It seems like so much is bubbling on the back burner, you can keep track of it all! Now is the time to finish much of what you have on your plate. In your wonderful enthusiasm last year, you started lots of big projects. Now you have to finish them! You feel the need to do so right now, and no doubt, this need will continue this year. That's okay, great things require a beginning, a middle, and an end. Beginnings are exciting. The middle requires perseverance. But in the end, you have to fight your fear of success. Oh yes.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Old friends, and contacts through clubs and organizations are crossing your path once again. The curious thing about these encounters is that they might cause you to re-examine your goals for the future. You might find out that something you thought was impossible -- is quite possible after all. Or you might see a better way of doing things. Or you might see you definitely don't want to do something after you hear "that sad story". It's all information. Learn from everyone and everything around you. (If at first you don't succeed, hide all evidence you ever tried.)
