All Signs
Mars is now in its long sojourn in the sign of Leo, focusing energy in one part of your chart until next summer. (Usually Mars is in Leo for six weeks every two years. But now, it's here for eight months! This hasn't happened since 1962-63.) Here are three considerations: (1) maximize the advantages of this unusual situation; (2) acknowledge this unusual activity, and the effect it has on your life; and (3) compensate for any difficulties that might arise because Mars is the ruler of war, and very aggressive. ("I'm innocent!" "Too bad. I hate you!" Ka-pow!) Mars can signify illness with fevers and infection, plus burns and fires. So be careful. (And if it's too hot in the kitchen - get out!)
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Mars is your ruler, and this long visit of Mars in one sign is good for you. It punches up your creative energy! This is a marvelous stretch for artisans, artists, actors, musicians, photographers, writers, painters, and anyone who does anything creative. It makes you more playful! It makes you demand the right to have fun. It increases your enjoyment with childlike activities, especially playful times with children. It certainly boosts romance and sex! Your passions and desires are obvious, and you want gratification. This doesn't mean you're aggressive. Actually, quite the opposite. You're hot and sexy -- but friendly!
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Mars now throws a heavy focus on home and family; however, in one way, because Mars rules your muscles, it also rules hard work. This means you have mucho energy to work diligently to make your home more secure or more attractive. Obviously, this is a great time for renovations, repairs, and residential moves. You have energy to burn! However, the flip side is all this increased energy could create conflict with family members or anyone who lives with you. Your ego is strong! You want your way with all these domestic changes. Just remember: you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. On the other hand, who wants flies?
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Because Mars is an energy planet, it increases your communications with others. You've got things to do, places to go, and people to see! You're busy with short trips, errands, conversations with everyone, as well as an increased focus on reading, writing and studying. You're also highly opinionated! That's because Mars is an ego-planet, and makes you identify with your ideas. The good news is you'll be unusually persuasive in your communications. This is great for sales, marketing, teaching, and acting. The bad news is Mars makes you pushy and coercive, which is lousy for friendships, personal relationships, and talking to relatives and siblings. Pull in your reins a little. (Ya think?)
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
You don't flash your cash. Many Cancers are rich, but you'd never know it. (Who wants all your relatives hitting you up for a loan?) Which isn't to say you won't help someone in need -- because you will. Mars has two influences on you right now. One makes you identify strongly with whatever you own. (Well, hey -- who hangs onto their stuff more than you? You can't throw anything out! You always think you're going to need it someday. Yikes, now you're really holding on for dear life!) The other influence is fascinating. It encourages a fast-paced, active cash flow. You'll see ways to use the money you have, and the things you own, so that you can get things done!
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
This is an unusual time for you because this rare journey of Mars is in your sign! Obviously, the good news is it boosts your energy - hugely! You're aggressive, and more a fighter for your rights. ("Don't mess with the kid.") By extrapolation, this means your life is more active. Busy you! Your physical energy is high, and because of this, you can accomplish a lot. (This sustained energy lasts into next summer - yay!) You might feel a shift for several months at the beginning of next year to complete things. What you have to guard against is being over domineering because Mars is bossy! Nevertheless, you're independent, supercharged, and full of positive energy. Yay me!
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
This long Mars transit (until next summer) stirs up activity in a strange part of your chart. Mars is traveling through the most secret part of your chart, stirring up your unconscious mind. And it's also evident to me that you're involved in some kind of secret activity. (You're certainly playing your cards very close to your chest.) For some, this means a secret love affair. For others, well -- you know what you're up to. It's best to work alone or work by yourself when you have this kind of energy because Mars tends to reactivate past, unconscious, bad habits. If you suspect you're being your own worst enemy - you are! Aaagghh.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
For the most part, this long journey of Mars benefits you. You're a very social sign. You love to schmooze. You need to bounce your ideas off others and feel connected with people. Mars is increasing your opportunities to interact with friends, casual acquaintances, groups, clubs, and organizations. This part you like! Now for the small print. Mars can also introduce competition and conflict with someone, or even a group. Although you can debate and argue very well -- you don't like conflict. Not right in your face. It upsets your equilibrium. Fortunately, right now, fair Venus sweetens all your words. Tra la, tra la, it is to laugh.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Until next summer, Mars arouses your ambition! Mars is all about ego, aggression, competition, and victory. This means this eight-month sojourn of Mars across the top of your chart makes you more ambitious than you've been in decades! You want to achieve. You certainly don't want to work for others: you want independent authority over what you do. Naturally, if you have a boss, this attitude is threatening! This is why you might be in conflict with bosses, parents, teachers, and authority figures. You're aggressive, and they think you're being too big for your britches. Learn to pick your fights. Don't blow off any situation or person you actually need. Like duh?
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
This unusual stretch of Mars being in one sign for eight months is actually quite auspicious for you. Why? Because Mars is going to supercharge all the areas that particularly delight and intrigue you. For starters, it's going to bring all kinds of opportunities to travel from now until next summer. It will urge you to explore all kinds of psychological, religious, political, and legal questions. You'll be intellectually creative, and keen to debate your ideas with others. You're also ready to grab opportunities in publishing, higher education, medicine, and the law. However, Mars likes fights! Legal disputes are likely. Have fun -- but keep your head down and your powder dry.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
The next 7-8 months are powerful because many of you will undergo an experience that forces some kind of transformation in your life. You're going to change, or something around you is going to change. You might experience a conflict with someone, and the end result is you will re-examine your position on something. ("I'm going to think this over, but admit nothing.") Disputes about shared property, taxes, debt, insurance matters, and anything you own jointly with others are likely. Bummer. The good news is your gonads are in overdrive! You're going to be sexually turned on for months! This should be interesting, especially if things are so bad, if it weren't for pickpockets, you'd have no sex life at all.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Because Mars is opposite your sign for so long, you face one of the biggest challenges of all signs of the zodiac. Since Mars is all about ego, conflict, competition, and winning -- when it sits opposite your sign, it can create tension with partners and close friends. However, there is a positive side to this. Often it's hard to assert yourself in a partnership, or really tell it like it is, or defend your best interests. Well you're not going have any trouble doing this. (Hee hee.) This ability to assert yourself can also serve you well in professional partnerships. Obviously, one should avoid needless controversy. Why fight if you don't have to? (This is so true: never miss a good chance to shut up.)
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Whenever Mars enters a certain area of your chart, it increases the activity of whatever that area of your life is. It also makes you more opportunistic, energetic, and ambitious in that same area. For Pisces, the area where Mars is flashing its bright lights is all about work, employment, your health, and even matters connected with small pets. Suddenly, you have the ambition, the motivation, and the energy to get better organized in your life! (You're running around with an outboard motor on your ass.) You want a home for everything, and everything in its place. Wonderful! Get the right tools and equipment to do a great job. Buy cleaning equipment, paint, shelving, file folders, baskets or whatever you need. Get on top of your scene! (And yes, you need some special shoes or boots for the job.)
