Leap Year started with Julius Caesar. (Could this be why they turned on him?) Since each year is a few hours longer than 365 days -- he decided to add one day every four years to even things out. He said, "That way people can have Leap Year dances! And Leap Year babies can form clubs! How cool is that?" (Beware the Ides of March, Julie.) Everybody bought it. So now each Leap year we have an extra day i.e. Feb. 29. But my story is not over. Many moons later, Pope Gregory had his views about this. He said every four years was too much. (Popes like restraint.) So the rule is: "Leap Years occur in years exactly divisible by four, except that years ending in 00 are Leap Years only if they are divisible by 400." (gasp) Superman incidentally, was born on Feb. 29. (And I live on Lois Lane.)
Lots of little ideas are bubbling beneath the surface right now. You might not even be aware of all of them. You have strong desire to make improvements in your life, especially with respect to the government and large institutions. You are an independent, freedom-loving soul who often (to your never-ending chagrin) seeks the security of permanent employment. Of course, this is the classic relationship of the soldier to the government. The warrior is off to battle yet needs to be supported by his Emperor. Alternatively, some of you are the independent artisan who needs patronage to continue to create works of art. Oy vay. This is your constant dilemma.
There's a mixed bag of influences right now. Part of you is prepared to be careful, industrious, and cautious in making long-term plans for the future. But you're a sensuous type (oh yeah). A Taurus invented the word "drool". Thus, strong, passionate feelings grip you now making you go overboard in matters of the heart, love and romance. You might promise someone the Moon! Similarly, you could go overboard just having a good time -- great food, fine wine, luxurious room service -- nothing but the best. Mind you, you always wince when you see the bill. It's so hard to be a hedonist nowadays isn't it? (Do you know how much it costs to have someone peel grapes?)
Mercury is your ruler. That's why you're so chatty and you multitask. Busy hands, busy energy, always on the go. (Mercury is the planet with all the superlatives: the smallest, the fastest, the hottest and the closest to the Sun.) It's rather unusual but Mercury makes a connection with serious Saturn and over-the-top Jupiter within less than a week. You're not sure whether you should stash your money under the mattress or buy that new hot tub with a little portable TV. You're blowing hot and cold with your impulses. Furthermore, one doesn't cancel out the other. They're both operative influences. If others question you, just smile wisely and say, "We all have our contradictions."
Because you're making serious improvements to your career and even your health, (you're undergoing a strong streak of reform) you're definitely making different plans for your future. In fact, as you ponder all your tomorrows, you see that something philosophical and spiritual is also at stake. In other words, unless you know what is intrinsically important to you (deep within your tender heart) how can you know what road to take? What path will be satisfying and rewarding? These questions are just as public as tough as what to order for lunch today. Nothing is simple.
You're starting to feel like an investment banker or a financial wizard. You've been juggling money questions for some time now. Do you have enough? (One never has enough.) Can you get more? If so, where? How would you share these goodies? Wills, estates, loans, mortgages and questions about shared property and divided assets are important considerations. Hopes of increased wealth and assets might cause you to spend big now. Considering how you spend money anyway -- when a Leo spends big -- watch out world! Veni vidi Visa: We came, we saw, we went shopping. (And we're not saving our receipts.)
Like Gemini, you're ruled by Mercury. Astrological influences to Mercury are always a good indication of what's happening to you on planet Earth. There's some confusion going on here because on one hand, you're getting great advice from someone older and wiser; and with this advice you're making serious, solid future plans -- especially about relationships. But on the other hand, you might be confused and stymied by what's happening with a close partner or friend. Someone is making promises and you're not sure you can rely on them. Trust your gut instincts. (Virgo rules the intestines.) If you act with discipline you'll have no regrets.
Far more than usual, you've been thinking of long-range career possibilities. These are good ideas. They're doable and certainly within the range of your abilities. That means that if you don't do it, it comes down to two things: (1) you didn't know how do it; or (2) you couldn't finish. Painful but true. Someone might accuse you of being too optimistic now. They think you're biting off more than you can chew, or your eyes are bigger than your stomach. (That sort of thing.) Wise advice and opportunities from VIPs and bosses only confirm your inner belief that you can do it. Why not try?
You're torn between making solid, sensible plans about travel or education versus going to Disney World. (I'm using Disney in a metaphorical sense -- you'll have your own Disney World in mind.) So should you stick to the straight, narrow, sensible path (sure results) or play a long shot? You strongly identify with your creative sensibilities now. But you fear that your hopes are too optimistic. Every artist suffers this dilemma. Do I quit my day job? Either way, it appears you feel quite proud of your efforts about two years down the road. It's important to believe in yourself. (Somebody has to.)
This is a good time to settle domestic matters, especially for the long-term future. But it might be hard to know what you can count on. Parents or bosses make promises that are exciting and full of allure. But are they feasible? Security is a funny thing. That which looks safe and secure often turns out not to be. And that which looks like a wild good chase sometimes is a dream come true. I agree with the saying: you gotta go out on a limb because that's where the sweetest fruit is. Everything in life is just a hope or fear. The only thing we have for sure is the immediate moment. Live your "immediate moments" to the fullest. That's all you can do. (Another cherry?)
You like to save for rainy day. In fact, you like to save for a sunny day. More than most, you're concerned about your security. (Wisely so, because your sign generally lives to a ripe, old age.) Discussions with others (especially partners and close friends) yield particularly wise, strong advice now. Yet privately, you have travel plans that are kind of wild and crazy. You've got big ideas about going someplace. Furthermore, you might have big ideas about publishing, the media and something to do with higher education. These ideas can all coexist in your head at the same time. Just because you take a highflier doesn't mean you've lost your commonsense. (For one thing: commonsense ain't so common.)
You've been dealing with debt, shared property, mortgages, loans, and above all -- your job. In one way, you feel supremely optimistic; in another way, you're waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop. (If it's your size -- buy another one just like it.) Be assured that in the next few years you will get recognition for your efforts! It has to come. Be careful of being overoptimistic of your assets right now, especially with respect to inheritances, wills and loans. Matters could look more favourable than they are. But ya never know. Everything could turn out hunky dory. Either way -- there's no such thing as financial independence. We are all dependently wealthy.
You're both worried and optimistic. One part of you is concerned for children, creative projects, show business, and areas where you normally feel lighthearted. Conversely, another part of you feels optimistic talking to partners and listening to the promises and hopes of others. It's hard to find a solid, centre ground. The thing to remember now is that it is the doing (of whatever you do) that is the reward. The reward itself can be surprisingly hollow. Plus rewards can hook you, so you're no longer free. The key is this: playing a game that you have chosen in order to express your values, purposes or goals is very different from playing a game in order to win approval. We are verbs not nouns.
