All Signs
This week the Sun's shift from Cancer to Leo brings a different focus to our lives. However, murky Neptune, lurking in the background, also brings a temporary confusion to most of us -- possibly under the guise of idealization. As the poet Kahil All Bran said, " If you don't know you don't know, you're in politics. If you know you don't know, you're a parent. If you don't know you know, you're watching too much TV. And if you know that you know, you're reading this column." Note: For those who know they know and try to plan ahead, Mercury goes retrograde Aug. 28 -- Sept. 20. The effects of this retrograde period will show up mid-August.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
This is probably going to be one of the most fabulous months you've had in years! During the next four weeks (even longer) both the Sun and Jupiter will promote romance, love affairs, fun, parties, vacations and playful times with children. This is the perfect time to enjoy your creative expression in any avenue -- sewing, painting, drawing, composing, writing, gardening, singing, performing, acting or whatever pleases you. Don't focus on the product; focus on the process. You're a verb, not a noun. This 4 to 6 week period also blesses everything to do with show business, the entertainment world and the hospitality industry. Let your Aries talents begin!
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
A very strong focus -- but a favourable focus -- highlights everything to do with home, family and your domestic environment. Family reunions, family discussions, visits and much to-ing and fro-ing of family members is to be expected. You're giving a lot of thought to real estate and to where you live or where family members live. This is an excellent time to buy real estate or improve domestic holdings. Conversations with parents and relatives are particularly significant and heartwarming. Just be careful right now (for a few days) because Neptune can make you blow things out of proportion. There are none so blind as those who have mosquito repellent in their eyes.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
You're entering an exceptionally busy month ahead. It's time to cha cha! Short trips, increased contact with siblings and relatives, additional reading, writing and study are some of the reasons you're on the go. This is a good time to focus on contracts, negotiations plus buying and selling. But be careful this week about these areas because something might look better than it actually is. If it doesn't feel right in your gut -- don't touch it. Right now is the classic time for a swindle to take place. Remember: hell is paved with Good Samaritans.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
As the Sun shifts signs this week, your reflection upon your values -- what you own, and what you want to do with what you own -- intensifies. You want to make sure that your possessions serve your needs. Most Cancers own quite a lot of stuff. (You never throw anything away in case you need it someday.) But do you own your stuff or does it own you? That is the question. At this stage in your life, you are entering an entirely new sandbox. It might even require a new wardrobe. Fortunately, increased earnings are also likely in the month ahead. It's important to let go of old habits so that you can allow fresh impulses and new behavior to take root. Or at least sprout!
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
It's all about you, babes. The Sun, Mercury and Jupiter are in Leo with Venus closing in. Your bathroom mirror is covered with kisses. This is an exciting time in your life because you can feel the winds of change blowing around you. You're starting to dismantle certain aspects of your life. You have to let go of some things to get ready for a major shift around 2005. You'll be able to do this easily and gracefully. Good fortune (and later money!) favour you now. That's why you must maketh hay while the Sun shines. Confusion with partners this week is unavoidable. Remember that you are gullible, even if you don't think so. (Oh well, nice guys might finish last, but they get to sleep in.)
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
A strong focus now addresses your private, spiritual world. Regardless of the degree (or not) that you acknowledge this part of yourself -- you will need more solitude. Bad TV will drive you to this. You don't have to sit in a Lotus position and listen to the grass grow. But time spent in solitary activity will enormously benefit you in the next few weeks. In particular, you will get great satisfaction from helping others in hospitals, prisons or difficult situations. Your sign understands the beauty of service. ("No call is too small.") You find it rewarding to be of benefit to others. Keep in mind that true generosity is giving what is needed.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
You're such a smooth schmoozer! You can work a room like nobody else. You'll particularly enjoy the next month or six weeks ahead because friends, clubs, groups and organizations offer you opportunities to network and meet new faces. At a deeper level, you'll appreciate how much a casual encounter can mean to someone. Let's face it -- it's hard out there without your towel. A smile or a friendly word is often far more important than it appears. Confusion with a friend might stall you in the water in the next few days. Don't get suckered into anything. It's good to be helpful, but there is such a thing as idiot compassion.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
The Sun is now at high noon in your chart. This definitely put you in the limelight more than usual. People notice you. Discussions with bosses, authority figures and parents take place now. Look your best because it's a high profile month ahead. The good news is you don't have to do anything extra to suddenly gain people's respect. You're in the right place at the right time saying the right thing to the right person. Be careful of important discussions right now because confusion replaces clarity. Do not assume anything. If something important is expected from you -- make sure you know what it is. Repeat it back to others. ("Are you sure you want me to take your new Jag. to Sausalito?")
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
You'll love the month ahead! That's because the Sun now highlights all your favourite things: travel, exploring foreign countries and different cultures, publishing and media activities, plus everything to do with higher education, the law and medicine. At heart, you're a university junkie. But your university is planet Earth. You want to know all the answers to the big questions. (And you want decent room service while you're searching.) Avoid political and religious arguments right now. Confusion in these areas could make you feel sheepish later. "There is no worse lie than a truth misunderstood by those who hear it." (William James) Fortunately, you know it's bad luck to be superstitious.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
This current gaggle of planets amps your sex drive, and intensifies your desires about many things. This, you don't mind. Sometimes desire is desirable. In addition however, it increases your focus on trying to settle matters about shared property and the joint ownership of things. (Yes, this has been dragging on for a long time, hasn't it?) Right now, confusion could prompt you to give away the farm. Don't do it. In a week, clarity returns. You'll see that the Olympics will change everything! Nevertheless, focus on wills, inheritances, estates, taxes, debt and shared possessions. Clear up whatever you can.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Every six months the Sun opposes your sign. This means that some aspect in your life is reaching a culmination of sorts. However, it can also signify dicey times with authority figures and partners. It's important to keep in mind that because you're born 50 years ahead of your time, you're not exactly the leader of the pack -- you're the maverick! Others often misunderstand you. Sure, the lead dog has the clearest view, but if others don't believe you, what's the point? You have to really listen to those who are close to you now. Communication isn't just about expressing your views -- it also involves the responsibility for making sure that others understand what you're trying to say. Capice? Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
It's a wonderful month ahead! Mars still gives you lots of energy to burn, and the timing couldn't be better because you suddenly want to pull your act together to take it on the road. (Yes, this includes the floor of your bedroom closet.) This is a fabulous opportunity for you to give trajectory to all your sizzling energy. You'll get an enormous amount done in the next several weeks. Act while you have this motivation to do so. Clean, paint, throw out old stuff, organize papers, buy support material like shelves, hooks, folders -- whatever. Similarly, you want to buff your bod and improve your health. You're on a huge self-improvement kick. (Impressive.)
