Moon Alert

We have the All Clear today to shop (whether you spend $10 or ten million) and make important decisions. The Moon is in Gemini.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

TGIF. Nevertheless, let us not forget that this is a year of hard work for you. And workaholics don't go yay! when it's TGIF, they yay! when it's TGIM. Naturally, you can play, but in lesser portions.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Hopefully, you have either moved recently or made improvements that please you. Now you're moving into a new phase of your life when you are trying to figure out what you really want to be when you grow up. Even if you're 80.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You're the butterfly the zodiac. Fascinating and fascinated. You're interested in anything -- for five minutes. Nevertheless, even you need hearth and home to return to. This is your year to focus on how to solidify your home base. Do whatever is necessary to give yourself a secure anchor.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

I know that every time I say this it makes your teeth itch but as your friend, I'm telling you to prepare yourself for either a residential move or a job change in the next 18 months, maybe a little longer for some of you. (You know how much stuff you have to move.) Gulp.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Most of you are doing some serious thinking about what really matters, and about what you really want in life. These are not trivial questions. And they're not easy to answer. Not even if you're cheating. That's because the answers have to fit you and only you. (Inkspots riff here.)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Your world has changed so much in the last few years, it's laughable. (Oh, you're laughing.) That's because you've embarked on a new 29 year cycle. You're in a new sandbox. It's a whole new ballgame and your responsibilities are pretty serious -- but you're up for it.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You're going to let go of people, places and possessions this year. You're giving up what you've outgrown and is no longer relevant in your life. ("Not Hawkins Cheesies!") No, you can still have those -- but a minute on the lips is a lifetime on the hips. ("I hate you!")

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

It's challenging learning how to incorporate more people and more organizations, clubs, and classes into your life and still maintain some kind of equilibrium or sanity. (Fortunately, you've got a few years to learn how to do this.)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You're approaching quite a stellar time in your life. At the best, you'll be very proud. At the worst, you'll admit something's going nowhere. You can't lose. It's harvest time and you're going to rake in the goodies - praise, promotions, accolades, certificates, whatever.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You're entering a serious phase preparation in your life. More than any other sign, you have a strong sense of destiny. You intend to be somebody or do something. This year you will start to see what it is that you can actually achieve.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

It's time to cultivate independence and stand on your own 2 feet (or three if you're a stool.) Learn to depend less on partners and external help. Learn to depend more on yourself. The confidence of self reliance that comes to you this year will hugely empower you for the future.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Partnerships are a strain. And you've got a lot of loose details to iron out. But you can do it because friends are so supportive this year. In fact, most of you will have one of the most popular years you've had in over a decade! Friendly support is a wonderful thing.

If Your Birthday Is Today

The Simpsons animation creator Matt Groening (1954) shares your birthday today. You have an original take on how you approach your work, and your life. You're resourceful, ingenious and often skilled technically. You work hard because you like things around you to run smoothly. In the year ahead, you'll wrap up something you've been involved with for about nine years to make room for something new.
