We All Have a Past
This forecast begins with highlights of your past because if what I say about your past rings true, then you can trust what I say about your future.
Astrology is based on cycles. We can learn from our past. For example, casting a glance back as long ago as almost 30 years, we see that the early 90s were a time of flux and change for you. Nothing was certain concerning your job or where you lived. Fortunately, people were helpful and supportive to you then. This is why by 1992-93, you decided it was time to put down roots and figure out where your bed was. You wanted to establish a home - a place of refuge that would be a support for you and your family. You did this by 1994-95, in part, because lucky Jupiter was in your sign giving you a sense of ease and contentment. Fortunately, soon after, your earnings increased, which helped; and by 1997-98, you were busting your buns to show the world what you could do.
The year 1998 was a good year for romance, the arts and vacations. By 1999, you had chances to get a better job or improve your job and at the same time, improve your health. For many, 1999 was a watershed year. You either left relationships or entered them because relationships became serious then, primarily because you became empowered.
At the turn of the millennium, you grew stronger. This is when you stepped onto centre stage to face the world with courage and anticipation. However, relationships were a challenge; fortunately, you knew that you could rely on your increased confidence and inner strength to go forward, which you did. In fact, by 2000, you benefited from the wealth and resources of others, which is why many of you travelled in 2001 or went back to school or did something to expand your world. By 2002, your reputation was strong and you looked good. In fact, friends and groups offered you support.
Around 2006, you entered a powerful time in your life. Lucky Jupiter was back in your sign once again plus this was a time of harvest for you. This was a completely different situation. You saw your opportunities and you saw your limitations; and you had the courage to act on this realization.
During 2006-07, many of you received kudos, acknowledgements, promotions and praise for your efforts. Whatever you did then made you feel proud. And by 2007, your financial picture improved. Life was good! Many of you explored wonderful opportunities to improve your life through real-estate deals or renting something better, especially around 2009. Family relationships were happier, too. Many of you explored fun vacations and new romance in 2010 before wonderful job opportunities came your way in 2011.
However, around 2011, you started to downsize and streamline your life to get rid of what was no longer relevant or necessary in your life. This is something you are very good at. Some signs, like Cancer, have a hard time to let go of things. But Scorpio is a sign that has domain over many aspects of life including "garbage" - as well as "old garbage" like anthropology and archaeology. Because of this, when you are ready to get rid of something - you purge it from your life! "Be gone!" This is why from 2010 until 2013, you let go of possessions, people, places, relationships, jobs and whatever was holding you back. This is also because whether consciously or unconsciously, you knew you were starting a new journey around 2013. This was a journey to reinvent who you were.
Travel plans and chances to explore opportunities in publishing, the media, medicine, the law and higher education were a blessing in 2014. It was important to learn new things and expand your world because you were now setting off on this journey of redefining yourself. By 2015, lucky Jupiter was at the top of your chart promoting your reputation in the eyes of others, especially your peers. Many of you got promotions, kudos and acknowledgements. Some of you travelled more for your work. Some of you even changed your line of work to something related to healing, travel, publishing or higher education.
In the last year, your popularity with others was strong. People were supportive. Nevertheless, financial challenges have made you assess what you do for a living and what your true values in life really are. If you don't know what you value, how can you make important decisions? This year Jupiter offers you opportunities to explore and discover your inner values. Once you get a better idea of who you are, you will know what kind of pool you want to dive into next year.
The challenges you face this year are that you have less control over your material wealth and your finances. You will work hard to earn money. This is also why this is the year to organize your finances. Pay attention to them. Don't be frivolous. You can do this because you have enormous willpower and discipline when you want to use it - probably more than any other sign. When you think about your finances, your wealth and your assets, it's important to know that you have to master the conditions around you or you will be mastered by them. You are in charge. Organize your finances and budget to the best of your ability so you don't have to think about this too much.

Romance and Relationships
You can't ignore the Gothic aspect when you think of romance and Scorpio. This is because the essence of Scorpio is the proclivity to be extreme. (Kinda scary for people who are middle of the road.)
Since the beginning of 2012, Neptune, which is associated with perfection and idealism (and confusion and delusion), has been travelling through the part of your chart that deals with love affairs and romance. This is both a blessing and a curse. It makes you seek out an ideal partner, someone who will come as close as possible to fulfilling your highest dreams. Because of the non-substantial quality of Neptune, sex might not be the biggest thing in the relationship. The biggest thing might be that this person fulfils your idealistic expectations. You admire them. But Neptune is a slippery slope, and your admiration can become unrealistic adoration - putting someone on a pedestal. This ultimately leads to disillusionment.
Neptune is sympathetic and eager to help. This means that you are vulnerable to relationships where you are the saviour or you are going to support or rescue someone. This kind of influence can create confusion in your romance. You can take the best of it, which is sheer poetry, and strive to be aware of the other side of the coin. This year is not likely to be a dramatic change regarding real estate or your home or family. However, two influences indicate that your family life will be enriched this year. The first is the fact that you will be working on your inner self. Admittedly, for some people, this can be a time of turmoil. However, for most people, self introspection leads to greater respect for self and others, which improves relationships around you. Obviously, this would include your relationship with your family members.

This is also a great time for sports and creative projects. Meanwhile, you're still working hard in your job; and this month, your earn praise and perhaps a raise.
April
Even though you are still in party mode and perhaps enjoy vacations (Mom always liked you best); nevertheless, your primary thrust now is to work hard so you can get credit for something. This is the only month all year when the Sun is 180 degrees opposite your sign, which means it is as far away from you (in your chart) as it gets all year. Symbolically this means you will need more rest because the Sun is your source of energy. Respect your need for more sleep and more rest this month. Mercury Retrograde in 2017
Mercury retrograde occurs three times a year. This is when Mercury appears to go backwards in relation to planet Earth. (In reality Mercury always moves forward.) During these so-called retrograde times, the areas that Mercury has domain over inexplicably suffer from errors and delays. The errors are small but frustrating!
Mercury is the symbol of everything that moves forward:
- all forms of ground transportation, (cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, buses, taxis, trains)
- the mail, parcels, packages (Post Office and Courier and Delivery Services)
- communications -- email, social media, phone calls, conversations
- daily living (the people we encounter, the items we deal with, the transactions we make and how we relate to others.)
During Mercury retrograde, all the areas under the rulership of Mercury tend to go "backwards." (They certainly have trouble going forwards!) This is why we can expect transportation delays, missed buses and car breakdowns. Mail will be late or lost, daily items that we handle like keys and papers will be misplaced; and communications with others will be confused and misunderstood. Plus people from our past will pop up into our lives. "Boris?" "Natasha!"
Use Mercury retrograde times to finish things, study the past, do research and reflect. But do not open a business or begin new projects then. Mercury retrograde is also a bad time to buy cars, trucks, bikes, computers, printers and phones.
The dates below are the actual retrograde dates plus the buffer times. This is because Mercury starts to slow down before it goes retrograde. Then afterwards, it needs more time to catch up to where it was at when it first went retrograde.
The craziness (delays and errors) is most pronounced during the actual retrograde time. However, if you are buying a big ticket item like a car or a computer, I recommend that you play it safe and avoid these purchases in the buffer times as well. You'll be glad you did.
