To a Better Year Ahead!
Canada and the US will enjoy an improved financial climate this year as North America moves towards a more solid footing. Family life and especially the rights and care of children will also improve.
Last year Saturn entered Scorpio to stay until September 2015. This means Saturn is now being expressed in a Scorpio style - or to put it another way - the areas that are governed by Scorpio are the ones undergoing strong challenges.
The sign of Scorpio governs sex, secrets, espionage and spying, police detection and criminal activity as well as medicine, plumbing, manufacturing, nuclear fission, television, the military and everything related to death.
Meanwhile the planet Saturn governs all pyramid structures, especially rules and regulations and the government.
When Saturn was last in Scorpio in 1984-86, Indira Gandhi was assassinated, AIDS was discovered, Apple released the first MAC computer, Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman to run as a Vice President running mate, Nintendo was released, the Challenger exploded after take off, the Chernobyl disaster occurred and FOX network began. This same energy will pervade in 2014.
Small wonder we have press coverage about NSA spying on its own citizens as well as other countries, plus security leaks and whistle blowers like Edward Snowden. The year 2014 will continue to focus on crime, ruthless politics and overburdened medical systems, as well as exposing illegal surveillance of the public.
The real-estate market will continue to improve until summer, after which it might settle for awhile. From the summer of 2014 and beyond, we can expect improvements and more activity in the arts and the entertainment world. During this same time, there will be a wonderful boost to the hospitality industry, which is good news for restaurants, hotels, resorts and theme parks.
So it's a bad year for spies and a good year for stand-up comedy. Does this mean funny is out of the bag? No more hidden humour?
I agree with Margaret Mead who said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."
But I also agree with George Carlin who said: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
Hello 2014!
This year you want to travel to new lands, meet new people, discover new ideas and explore new beliefs. It's a drive for freedom triggered by a dance between Uranus and Pluto from June 2012 to March 2015. This influence is bold and revolutionary! Looking back, it was around 1999 when you set out on a new path. By 2005, you knew who you were, but you still had to define what you wanted to do. Good job opportunities gave you a boost then and, by 2009, your reputation was stellar. Life improved even more in 2011-12 when lucky Jupiter moved into your sign bringing you increased happiness and good fortune. Now it's time to focus on your external world. You're making big plans because you believe in yourself and your future success. Actually, things look great because later this year, your home life will be rewarding and supportive. Go with your opportunities but also go with the flow where you must patiently wait. (You gotta know when to hold and when to fold.)
Mars Attacks!
In 2014, fiery Mars will energize you more than it has in 33 years. (If you're under 50, you've never before felt this adrenaline rush in your adult life.) Ta da! You'll be PowerPoint on steroids at work. You'll be focused, aggressive and competitive. You will set high standards for yourself and others because you want to be organized, efficient, effective and productive. (Frankly, you'll be bossy.) But in March, April and May, when Mars is retrograde, all this energy will be softened. This means you're busy delegating like mad in January and February, then pulling back for three months, then moving forward with a vengeance for the next three months. (Sheesh!) This same high energy applies to your health. Initially, you're determined to get in better shape by eating better and working out. But in March, April and May you experience health challenges and lower vitality. (Keep an eye on your blood iron count.) Then in June, it's all systems go and you're out jogging, biking, doing yoga stretches and being a superhero.
Money - the Second Most Important Thing
If you read "Mars Attacks!" - all you have to do is connect the dots. You will work hard this year! (March, April, May being the exception.) You will pour energy into your work because you will take pride in what you do. You'll want credit for your accomplishments, which means you won't feel like a team player. Expect improved earnings from marketing, advertising, teaching, writing, sales and editing plus driving for a living. Late in the year, profits related to real estate and family-run businesses or home-based businesses will improve. In the bigger picture, ever since last year you have been more empowered and confident. You have a stronger sense of direction. However, there is one area related to your work that will suffer. Relationships with co-workers and professional partners are under the gun. It's too easy to feel critical of each other. Some partnerships will end. Some employees or co-workers will quit. It is what it is. Keep in mind that Mars makes you assertive and bossy for most of this year, so be aware of your style of relating to others. Honey always catches more flies than vinegar. Be nice to co-workers because friends come and go but enemies tend to accumulate. Fortunately, Taurus is one of the "nice" signs (although I've met a few exceptions).
Love is Chemistry, Sex is Physics
You are tactile and sensual. (You juicy peach.) You love good food, good wine, good sex and a nice place to live. This year relations with others will improve because you are friendly and frank. Not only are you more willing to talk, you're in a positive frame of mind. You're tolerant, generous and broad-minded, which means hey, you're better company. People will want to be in your presence. Furthermore, you're refreshing and interesting because you're entertaining new ideas, beliefs and ways of looking at the world. However, Saturn is opposite your sign. (This occurs once every 30 years.) And this means difficulties with partners and friends are unavoidable. Dicey relationships will end. Even good relationships will need to make adjustments. People will make greater demands on you because they see you working hard and they expect you to prove something to them. Fortunately, as the year wears on, committed partnerships, especially if you live together, will become lighter, happier and more joyful. Just ask yourself daily what you can do to improve the relationship. If you are mindful of this, that is half the battle.
Home Suite Home
Home and family are where you really score in 2014. Family members want to see you because you're optimistic and willing to communicate and explore big ideas. (Relations with siblings are sweet.) In July, you enter an 18-month window that is the best time in more than a decade to enrich where you live and improve family relationships. You might move to bigger digs or buy and sell. (Best time for real estate in 12 years.) This same window of time is perfect for renovating and redecorating. In the same vein (different arm) relations with family members will be happier and mutually generous. By the end of 2014, your home life will be the happiest it's been in years! The only dark cloud on your horizon is the challenge of partnerships. (Ah well, a clean desk is a sign of a cluttered drawer.)
A Sneak Peek beyond 2014
Your home and family life will continue to improve in 2015 and, by late 2015 and 2016, expect a vacation and delights with romance, love affairs plus chances to explore the arts, the entertainment world and the hospitality industry. All the fun stuff! Many will expand their families through birth, marriage or adoption. During 2016-18, you will have opportunities to improve your job or your work, which is one reason you reach an exciting career peak in 2021. Yes!

Mercury Retrograde in 2014
Expect delays, lost items and confused communications! Best to finish things, not begin them. These are poor times to buy cars, trucks, bikes, computers, printers and phones.
Dates below are actual retrograde dates and buffer dates. Why? Mercury slows down before it goes retrograde and, likewise, it takes a while to catch up to the degree it was at when it first went retrograde. Use buffer times for big purchases like cars.
