To a Better Year Ahead!
Canada and the US will enjoy an improved financial climate this year as North America moves towards a more solid footing. Family life and especially the rights and care of children will also improve.
Last year Saturn entered Scorpio to stay until September 2015. This means Saturn is now being expressed in a Scorpio style - or to put it another way - the areas that are governed by Scorpio are the ones undergoing strong challenges.
The sign of Scorpio governs sex, secrets, espionage and spying, police detection and criminal activity as well as medicine, plumbing, manufacturing, nuclear fission, television, the military and everything related to death.
Meanwhile the planet Saturn governs all pyramid structures, especially rules and regulations and the government.
When Saturn was last in Scorpio in 1984-86, Indira Gandhi was assassinated, AIDS was discovered, Apple released the first MAC computer, Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman to run as a Vice President running mate, Nintendo was released, the Challenger exploded after take off, the Chernobyl disaster occurred and FOX network began. This same energy will pervade in 2014.
Small wonder we have press coverage about NSA spying on its own citizens as well as other countries, plus security leaks and whistle blowers like Edward Snowden. The year 2014 will continue to focus on crime, ruthless politics and overburdened medical systems, as well as exposing illegal surveillance of the public.
The real-estate market will continue to improve until summer, after which it might settle for awhile. From the summer of 2014 and beyond, we can expect improvements and more activity in the arts and the entertainment world. During this same time, there will be a wonderful boost to the hospitality industry, which is good news for restaurants, hotels, resorts and theme parks.
So it's a bad year for spies and a good year for stand-up comedy. Does this mean funny is out of the bag? No more hidden humour?
I agree with Margaret Mead who said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."
But I also agree with George Carlin who said: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
Hello 2014!
The year 2014 brings you more freedom of action - something that you started to experience last year. This year however, you will seek freedom in all aspects of your life: at work, at home, within your family, with partnerships and in daily encounters with others. It's been coming. If you think back to 2004-05, you were strong. At that time, you clearly saw what was working and what was not. By 2009-10, you began to dismantle much of what you had created since 1999. You gave up people, places and possessions. (You're good at purging what you no longer need.) Last year you began a seven-year process of reinventing yourself. This process is in its early stages but one of the requirements for your new identity will be that you have freedom of expression. This is why many of you will travel more this year, exploring new ideas, beliefs and ideologies. This also means one of your challenges will be learning to adapt to change. Ah yes, change is inevitable (except from a vending machine).
Mars Attacks!
Get ready to fight for the credit you deserve this year. (At least until autumn.) It's as if your light is under a bushel. Many of you will work alone or behind the scenes, which could be frustrating because the planet Mars is in a part of your chart indicating secret activities. On the upside, this will be a strong year for those in crime detection, police work or a job related to spying and security. But the downside is that March, April and May could reveal secrets. (Yikes!) If you are involved in clandestine work, be careful in those months because your cover could be blown. Also be aware of patterns of self-defeating behaviour. When you catch yourself doing this, don't take it out on others. Instead, confront yourself. At all times be vigilant because someone could be working against your own best interests. (Even paranoids have enemies.)
Money - the Second Most Important Thing
You are at the beginning of things, testing new waters. Many of you will work alone or behind the scenes this year and those involved in secret activities will flourish, except for March, April and May. Although your responsibilities are heavy, your accomplishments will be great. Nevertheless, your focus will be inward. You will be more introspective as you work to get in touch with what you really want. Work-related travel is a given because you will travel more than usual. You can also make great strides in publishing, the media, medicine, the law and anything to do with higher education. In fact, this is a great year to get further training or education to promote your career. Late in the year and for most of 2015, inexplicably, all this clouded mystery will fall away and you are revealed! Out there centre stage, getting applause! Quite a turnaround. Keep some snazzy duds in your closet so you can take a bow. By the end of the year, lucky Jupiter moves across the top of your chart bringing accolades, promotions and recognition for your efforts. This year has a stark contrast to its beginning and end for your sign. Keep the faith, baby!
Love is Chemistry, Sex is Physics
With sexy Mars hiding in your chart this year, secret love affairs are on the menu for many. (For Scorpio, sex is a recreational activity and as such is often carried out on the hush-hush.) One thing that is a strong possibility is a relationship with someone from afar - perhaps a foreign country or just far away. Planetary vibes will also encourage relationships with someone from a different background than yours, especially a different culture. "Mi casa, su casa." (Hey, it's a fun way to learn a new language.) And because many of you are striking out on your own, forging a new path, you will be more receptive to meeting people from other backgrounds and different walks of life. As I said above, you are testing the waters. Existing relationships have to recognize that you will demand more freedom for yourself. This doesn't mean you would leave a relationship. You don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. But those who are close to you must acknowledge your newfound autonomy.

Family and those who live with you will notice your drive for freedom and independence. They will also notice your desire to travel more and explore opportunities in publishing, the media, medicine, the law and higher education. Your chart is like a pizza cut into 12 pieces. Mercury Retrograde in 2014
Expect delays, lost items and confused communications! Best to finish things, not begin them. These are poor times to buy cars, trucks, bikes, computers, printers and phones.
Dates below are actual retrograde dates and buffer dates. Why? Mercury slows down before it goes retrograde and, likewise, it takes a while to catch up to the degree it was at when it first went retrograde. Use buffer times for big purchases like cars.
