To a Better Year Ahead!
Canada and the US will enjoy an improved financial climate this year as North America moves towards a more solid footing. Family life and especially the rights and care of children will also improve.
Last year Saturn entered Scorpio to stay until September 2015. This means Saturn is now being expressed in a Scorpio style - or to put it another way - the areas that are governed by Scorpio are the ones undergoing strong challenges.
The sign of Scorpio governs sex, secrets, espionage and spying, police detection and criminal activity as well as medicine, plumbing, manufacturing, nuclear fission, television, the military and everything related to death.
Meanwhile the planet Saturn governs all pyramid structures, especially rules and regulations and the government.
When Saturn was last in Scorpio in 1984-86, Indira Gandhi was assassinated, AIDS was discovered, Apple released the first MAC computer, Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman to run as a Vice President running mate, Nintendo was released, the Challenger exploded after take off, the Chernobyl disaster occurred and FOX network began. This same energy will pervade in 2014.
Small wonder we have press coverage about NSA spying on its own citizens as well as other countries, plus security leaks and whistle blowers like Edward Snowden. The year 2014 will continue to focus on crime, ruthless politics and overburdened medical systems, as well as exposing illegal surveillance of the public.
The real-estate market will continue to improve until summer, after which it might settle for awhile. From the summer of 2014 and beyond, we can expect improvements and more activity in the arts and the entertainment world. During this same time, there will be a wonderful boost to the hospitality industry, which is good news for restaurants, hotels, resorts and theme parks.
So it's a bad year for spies and a good year for stand-up comedy. Does this mean funny is out of the bag? No more hidden humour?
I agree with Margaret Mead who said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."
But I also agree with George Carlin who said: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
Hello 2014!
A revolution is taking place in your life. It began last year and will continue until the Spring of this year. This revolution is about redefining your relationship to your possessions, your kids, your job - and possibly how you see yourself as an artist. The underlying theme is you want your freedom! You don't want to be tied down to your job, held prisoner by money or even your possessions. You feel rebellious! Naturally, you like beautiful things and you want security, but not at the cost of losing your hope and freedom of action. These are survival issues for you! You've shocked others by leaving things by the wayside or doing an about face. But fear not. This is your private struggle and you will prevail. Around 2007-08, you were confident about who you were and what you were doing. In 2010-11, you started to work on your dream home and improving your personal life. Nothing is settled yet. Of course, you never were one to sit around getting dusty.
Mars Attacks!
Instead of its usual six-week visit, Mars is now in one sign for eight months. This creates difficulties for you with friends and groups because you'll be competitive. You face the contradiction of wanting to be avidly involved with others, especially classes, gyms, teams, clubs and organizations and yet, you resent group pressure or challenges. You will compete with others and refuse to subordinate yourself. Touchy indeed! The solution is to coordinate your efforts with others and make things a win/win result. One fortunate influence of this sojourn of Mars will provoke you to define some goals and actively pursue them. You like this. "Forward ho!" Fellow Sagittarius Winston Churchill thought it was a mistake to look too far ahead. He said only one link in the chain of destiny can be handled at one time.
Money - the Second Most Important Thing
In the last year or so, you have dismantled much of what you created since 2001. You said goodbye to friends, possessions, places, jobs and homes. This process of letting go will continue in 2014 in order to prepare you to begin a new path in 2015. When that time comes, you will be fresh, enthusiastic, streamlined (note this operative word) and ready to spring into a new scene. For the first time in your life, you're thinking about new and different ways of earning money. It's like you're starting over. Fortunately, people are generous to you in the first half of 2014. They will continue to give you things or let you use what they own. You might get money back from the government. This same wonderful influence makes it easy to get a loan or mortgage. You will be competitive with others, which will make working partnerships tricky. (Not ideal, in fact.) Late in the year, work-related travel and a chance to explore opportunities in higher education, publishing, the media, medicine and the law will abound. But first, remember that you are treading water until 2015 when you will land in a completely new sandbox.
Love is Chemistry, Sex is Physics
Several influences are at play with your love life this year. For starters, you have an abundant sex drive. (A good beginning.) But more than that (yes, there is life after sex) this is one of the few times in your life when you benefit from other people's resources. That makes this a great time to enter into relationships where you can pool what you have. In a word - others will help you! Meanwhile, you have a saucy, competitive spirit, which can also translate sexually. In fact, you'll enjoy all kinds of physical activity with friends, whether indoor athletics or otherwise. Meanwhile, unpredictable Uranus is encouraging you to explore different kinds of relationships. It wants you to break down old rigid patterns and try something "new." This new relationship might not be long-lasting and durable, but it will be memorable, if not scandalous. Sudden infatuations might break existing relationships as well. (Oh my.) Essentially, you want your life to be exciting and you want to be free!
Home Suite Home
Your home life is not predictable right now because this is a period in your life when you are giving up things. You are changing residences, jobs, friendships and locations. That's why this window of time (2013-2015) does not promote stability, in fact, the very opposite. However, if you recently moved, perhaps this is settled. But don't count on it. Not until 2015 will you start to feel you have landed and are moving in a direction that is fresh, different and exciting. This is why your ideals and hopes about the kind of home you want fill your mind in a romantic way. In your imagination, you are creating an ideal of what your home should be. But this is just homework and preparation for about a year from now when things will really stabilize.
A Sneak Peek beyond 2014
In the year 2015, you begin a seven-year journey of redefining who you are in the world. Your new surroundings might be so different, even your daily wardrobe will change. Late in 2015 and all of 2016, you have a chance to put your name up in lights! (Yay me!) Expect kudos, a promotion, acknowledgment - something that increases your esteem among your peers. Be smart. Start to prepare for this in 2014 so that you're "performance ready." Thrilling!

Mercury Retrograde in 2014
Expect delays, lost items and confused communications! Best to finish things, not begin them. These are poor times to buy cars, trucks, bikes, computers, printers and phones.
Dates below are actual retrograde dates and buffer dates. Why? Mercury slows down before it goes retrograde and, likewise, it takes a while to catch up to the degree it was at when it first went retrograde. Use buffer times for big purchases like cars.
