Virgo Forecast for 2013

Introduction
Boo-hoo. The year 2013 marks the end, in our lifetime, of those fun dates like 02.02.02 or 12.12.12 (Really cool birthdays.) It does, however, mark the beginning of new cycles and trends. If we look back to when these cycles occurred before, we might see a pattern.
Saturn is now in Scorpio until 2016. The sign Scorpio is all about sex, secrets, the police, the criminal element, the world of spies, medicine, plumbing, manufacturing, nuclear fission, television, and it has a strong link to the military. Saturn is about the government, form and structure, plus rules and regulations.
The last time Saturn was in Scorpio was 1984-86 when Indira Gandhi was assassinated, AIDS was discovered, Apple released the first MAC computer, Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman to run as a Vice President running mate, Nintendo was released, the Challenger exploded after take off, the Chernobyl disaster occurred and FOX network began.
When Saturn entered Scorpio in October 2012, within weeks, the media was filled with the Petraeus scandal about the illicit sexual activities of a four-star general who was head of the CIA. A movie waiting to happen!
It's safe to assume this year we can expect a heavier focus on crime prevention. Politics might become more ruthless (if that is possible). Medical systems will be tested and found wanting.
Meanwhile Uranus continues in Aries until 2019. The previous two times when Uranus was in Aries was in 1843-1850 (the California Gold Rush) and 1927-1935 when the price of gold almost doubled.
Neptune is in its own sign of Pisces until 2025. Neptune is glamour! Pisces rules the feet. An interesting manifestation of this is shoe fashions: Look around! More than ever before we see shoes and boots that are over the top. (And over the knee.) Imaginative, high-fashion styles, which until recently were confined to Paris runways, are now on our everyday streets worn by (sometimes limping) eager women. Shoe sellers can be confident this trend will last for the next decade.
Neptune's striving for idealism will permeate society, politics and the arts. Neptune is all about illusion and rules the medium of moving film (a huge illusion). There will be an increase in 3-D movies and television as well as optical inventions and the use of holographic images - perhaps 3-D action happening in the middle of your living room!
Live faces will pop up in e-mails and phone calls as the visual becomes just as important as the content. (Wow, you'll have to be dressed to answer your phone.)
All of Me
No one has more unrelated data crammed into their head than you. Your discriminating mind absorbs everything (meaningless or profound) then magically files it in the deepest recesses of your brain to be retrieved on command whenever you want. (Can you do that drinking a glass of water?) But what really ups your fascination factor (and you are fascinating) is you offer your magpie gems in an entertaining delivery embellished with accents, dialects and mimicry. But enough of your mental genius! You feel enriched when you are truly of service to others. You embrace good health. Even if you eat junk food, you are well-versed on diet, hygiene and wellness. If you are not an editor, critic or proofer, you might join fellow Virgos in the vitamin supplement industry. "Take two - they're small."
I Did It My Way
Relationships changed around 1994. Some expanded through new partnerships or dealing with the public, while other relationships ended. Life was a revolving door. Soon, families grew or you moved to bigger or better digs. By 1996-97, vacations, romantic opportunities and joy with children were a blessing. Relationships blossomed. By 2001-02, you enjoyed your harvest, which allowed you to break with what was not working and focus on what was. Nevertheless, by 2005, you began to streamline your life because by around 2008, you were on a new path. This was a fun-loving, romantic time! Many took a memorable vacation around then. It was a time of fresh beginnings, which provoked some soul-searching and getting in touch with new values and beliefs.
It Was a Very Good Year
Many of you felt financially squeezed in 2012. Furthermore, partnerships were confusing. But you were super-amped with fiery Mars in your sign for the first six months! (Yowzah!) This dynamically charged your energy and ambition. Plus lucky Jupiter was travelling across the top of your chart boosting your good name and giving you a respected reputation with your peers. Hopefully, this attracted good opportunities to you. Lately, you've been weighing the pros and cons of many things because your values are changing. Or perhaps you're more aware of what your core values really are?
From This Moment On
All Virgos are entering a two-to-three-year window full of residential moves and job changes. You might not think this will happen, but if you're under 50, the odds are it will. Something will make you dissatisfied with where you are or something will come along that is so appealing you cannot refuse it. You might even be thrust into a situation that is so different from your daily milieu, the people around you speak a different language. ("Wow, they don't speak English! I just asked her where we were and she said, "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.")
Nice Work If You Can Get It
You can expect a lot of change in the next few years. Since 2008, you have been redefining your life. But in the next two years, the most dramatic changes will take place because many of you will change jobs or change where you live. Or both! This change could be a welcome opportunity because Jupiter is still high in your chart bringing you blessings from VIPs and bosses. This means some of you will be transferred or choose a better job in another city. Even when Jupiter changes signs in the summer of 2013, this continues to bode well for you because it starts to boost your popularity. At the same time, something or someone in your life will encourage you to embrace bigger goals. (Something you might have been afraid of before.) Be careful about withdrawing from society and ignoring friendly invitations. Make sure you're living according to your values and ideals and not the ideals of someone else. Don't even go there. You are often quick to second-guess yourself. Don't do this.
The Very Thought of You
You strive for perfection, which means you must find the perfect mate. But hey, you also know there is no such thing. But the heart and the mind don't always text each other. Your mind knows that nobody's perfect but your heart can't quite trust anyone with shortcomings and insensitivities. (This is why many Virgos think marriage is a sentence, not a word.) As if to support your illusory ideas about relationships, you are now entering a seven-year window where, more than ever, you will tend to idealize your lover or partner. This also means you might hide your disappointment in others or feel resentful. You might feel deceived or swindled. But, hello? You are the source of the confusion. You have Vaseline on your lens, which means you can't see others clearly. Fortunately, Jupiter will offset this with some divine protection. Nevertheless, you have to be aware that whoever you are involved with, intimately or professionally, is just another mere mortal like you. Pants on one leg at a time. Remember: Life is short - and fat - and love is open arms.
For Once in My Life
In the next few years, outer changes with your job and where you live will have a mirrored inward change taking place at the same time. (Pretty heady stuff.) In fact, your inner world will be restructured so deeply it will affect how you speak, how you listen and even how you approach your daily routine. Ultimately, you will be more disciplined and more reliable. You will acquire better skills to deal with siblings and relatives. But your tendency to over-idealize relationships in the next two years could put you at odds with people around you who see what you're doing. And yet, you will want to entertain bigger goals in the next year, and this is exactly what you should do. Ah yes, it's hard to be diagonally parked in a parallel universe.
How Deep is the Ocean?
In August 2015, lucky Jupiter will enter your sign to stay for a year. By 2016, you will finish the journey of self-discovery that you began around 2008 to realize who you really are and what you really can do. Thus, when 2016 arrives, your main focus will be to establish a solid home. (Take note: in 2019, you will have wonderful real-estate opportunities to renovate, buy or sell.) You have tons of opportunities ahead of you for growth, increased earnings and positive changes!

Mercury Retrograde in 2013
Mercury retrograde times are frustrating. They generally occur three times a year for about six-to-eight weeks causing delays, transportation breakdowns, mixed-up communications, missed appointments, lost paper work, misplaced items, computer crashes and server problems. Oy! Newspapers, courier services, the Post Office, accounting firms and service industries get hurt the worst. Furthermore, each Mercury retrograde has its own flavour because it occurs in a different sign.
But they can also be used properly if you're smart. In a nutshell, just avoid some things and try to do others.
What to avoid: Avoid shopping for ground transportation like cars, trucks or bikes. Avoid shopping for items related to communications like phones, answering machines, computers and printers. I get mail asking if it's OK to buy a sofa or a washer or dryer... yes, it is.
What to do: Charge your cell phone. Pay your phone bill. Keep gas in the car and a working flashlight. Smile a lot. You will suffer from delays! Try to anticipate these and do some damage control ahead of time. Tackle repairs. (These will go surprisingly smoothly.) Clean out closets, drawers, desks and cupboards. Finish projects. Do research into the past. Study anything. Contact people from your past. Re-apply for a job. Try to get something you wanted before that fell through. Try again! Organize old photographs. Finish that "to do" list. It is easier to deal with the past than go forward into the future.
There are two sets of dates below: The actual time of Mercury retrograde is on the left. But Mercury slows down ahead of time, and then takes a long time to "catch up" to where it was when it first went retrograde. These longer time periods are on the right. When buying pricey transportation or a computer, I recommend respecting the dates on the right.
