Aries Forecast for 2013

Introduction
Boo-hoo. The year 2013 marks the end, in our lifetime, of those fun dates like 02.02.02 or 12.12.12 (Really cool birthdays.) It does, however, mark the beginning of new cycles and trends. If we look back to when these cycles occurred before, we might see a pattern.
Saturn is now in Scorpio until 2016. The sign Scorpio is all about sex, secrets, the police, the criminal element, the world of spies, medicine, plumbing, manufacturing, nuclear fission, television, and it has a strong link to the military. Saturn is about the government, form and structure, plus rules and regulations.
The last time Saturn was in Scorpio was 1984-86 when Indira Gandhi was assassinated, AIDS was discovered, Apple released the first MAC computer, Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman to run as a Vice President running mate, Nintendo was released, the Challenger exploded after take off, the Chernobyl disaster occurred and FOX network began.
When Saturn entered Scorpio in October 2012, within weeks, the media was filled with the Petraeus scandal about the illicit sexual activities of a four-star general who was head of the CIA. A movie waiting to happen!
It's safe to assume this year we can expect a heavier focus on crime prevention. Politics might become more ruthless (if that is possible). Medical systems will be tested and found wanting.
Meanwhile Uranus continues in Aries until 2019. The previous two times when Uranus was in Aries was in 1843-1850 (the California Gold Rush) and 1927-1935 when the price of gold almost doubled.
Neptune is in its own sign of Pisces until 2025. Neptune is glamour! Pisces rules the feet. An interesting manifestation of this is shoe fashions: Look around! More than ever before we see shoes and boots that are over the top. (And over the knee.) Imaginative, high-fashion styles, which until recently were confined to Paris runways, are now on our everyday streets worn by (sometimes limping) eager women. Shoe sellers can be confident this trend will last for the next decade.
Neptune's striving for idealism will permeate society, politics and the arts. Neptune is all about illusion and rules the medium of moving film (a huge illusion). There will be an increase in 3-D movies and television as well as optical inventions and the use of holographic images - perhaps 3-D action happening in the middle of your living room!
Live faces will pop up in e-mails and phone calls as the visual becomes just as important as the content. (Wow, you'll have to be dressed to answer your phone.)
All of Me
You're the boldest, bravest sign in the zodiac. You're Steve McQueen, Captain James T. Kirk, Jackie Chan and Lucy Lawless. "To the barricades!" Who gets things done around here? You do. Your pioneering spirit makes you leave enviable positions. You're tops in the arts, fighting, building and driving. (Zoom, zoom!) You love the thrill of discovery. "Land ho!" I Did It My Way
You were walking proud in the early '90s. (Graduation, marriage, birth or promotion.) By the mid-90s, you said good-bye to people, places and possessions to begin a new scene around 1996-97. Fortunately, your reputation was solid and bosses were impressed. The turn of the millennium was exciting and fruitful because lucky Jupiter was in your sign. However, by 2001, the winds of change pushed you out of jobs, homes, or both, so you could settle down by 2003-04. (Although you still partied your face off!) Many took a vacation in 2002-03. Good! Because since 2008, you've been busting your buns until a turning point in the last two years freed many of you from a failing relationship. Once again, Jupiter in your sign kept you standing tall.

Recently, you've been licking your wounds from relationships that have ended. No matter what the circumstances, a contributing factor was that since 2010, you have been more ambitious and independent. For the first time since 1996, Saturn is above the horizon in your chart. (This means you're feeling your oats!) Plus unpredictable Uranus, in your sign for the first time since 1935 (a first for you) is stirring the pot. You will not be dictated to. You will not be a doormat. You're going to embrace your power - period. "Are we all clear on this?"
From This Moment On
Guess what? When you were flying high in the early '90s, lucky Jupiter was exactly where it will be this July to stay for a year! This will totally bless your home life. Family members will be generous and joyful. Crops will be fertile, your herds abundant and milk and honey will flow in the land. (You get the picture.) Some will move to bigger digs; others will acquire beautiful things because your home will feel richer. Families might expand through marriage or birth. You'll work to secure your home to guarantee your comfort and support in the future. You won't feel shackled. Au contraire! You'll have a sense of belonging not only to your home but to your community.
Nice Work If You Can Get It
Good news! In your career and reputation among your peers, things are looking up. Since 2010-11, you have straightened your spine. Your increased confidence in standing up for yourself was the beginning of your march to success. You're focused on your external world now because you sense (quite correctly) you're going places. Meanwhile, life is forcing you to stand on your own two feet because the resources of others will diminish. (Please note this does not affect your own earnings. It just means you can't count on others as much as before.) But hey, this is boot-camp training for a career peak five years from now. "Hut-two-three-four!" From the summer of 2013 until late in 2014, you have the best chance in more than a decade for real-estate opportunities. Buy and sell or buy for the first time; or improve where you live with renovations or the purchase of lovely things. (You'll be lovin' your home in the next 18 months.) Start making a list of who will come to your house-warming party. Invite your enemies so you can gloat. "Eat your hearts out!" Bwa-ha-ha-ha!
The Very Thought of You
In love or lust, you make the first move. (Hey, you don't sit around getting dusty.) You're a sucker for a uniform because heroes turn you on. You love the chase and are a smooth seducer. (James Bond is the epitome of the Aries lover.) You flex your muscles and strut your stuff because you intend to "win" your love. You'll fight when unhappy (but hey --make-up sex is great). You're sexually passionate (you've started lots of engines). Although flirtatious, you can be loyal - if you want. But you need the freedom to call your own shots. Relationships that don't allow you to be your true self will be toast. Uranus in your sign (for the first time in your adult life) is now revving your need for independence. What others view as a pointless rebellion, you see as a drive for freedom! This summer will usher in a warm, loving influence at home. Family relationships will be more affectionate and generous, which could save threatened partnerships. On top of this, you'll feel a need to establish roots. (The M word?) In fact, you're starting to suspect you want security. (Whaat?)
For Once in My Life
You're cocky and independent. (Like Aries Emmylou Harris, "I never worry about what I can do or what I should do. I just do what I want to do.") But lately, your reputation and image have changed, which is making you ponder new directions. (It's thrilling but scary.) You're approaching your chance to make your greatest possible mark upon the world. The trick is you have to know your goals. You have to play fair and you can't take shortcuts. This is the perfect year to explore new kinds of awareness - yoga, mediation, tai chi - whatever gives you a new tool to become more focused. Because in five years, you will shine! Therefore, you have to be performance ready. You are finally starting to see that your goals are within your grasp. They're doable! Can you smell that whiff of success?
How Deep is the Ocean?
Your career peak is in about five years. This is a fact. It will be your time of harvest, when the seeds you plant now come to fruition. Make plans for a fun vacation in 2014-15 because leisure, romance and playful times with kids will bring you joy. Make this vacation a reality because by 2015, you'll be uber-focused on your job. (And if you're starting to look like your passport photo you're gonna need that holiday!)

Mercury Retrograde in 2013
Mercury retrograde times are frustrating. They generally occur three times a year for about six-to-eight weeks causing delays, transportation breakdowns, mixed-up communications, missed appointments, lost paper work, misplaced items, computer crashes and server problems. Oy! Newspapers, courier services, the Post Office, accounting firms and service industries get hurt the worst. Furthermore, each Mercury retrograde has its own flavour because it occurs in a different sign.
But they can also be used properly if you're smart. In a nutshell, just avoid some things and try to do others.
What to avoid: Avoid shopping for ground transportation like cars, trucks or bikes. Avoid shopping for items related to communications like phones, answering machines, computers and printers. I get mail asking if it's OK to buy a sofa or a washer or dryer... yes, it is.
What to do: Charge your cell phone. Pay your phone bill. Keep gas in the car and a working flashlight. Smile a lot. You will suffer from delays! Try to anticipate these and do some damage control ahead of time. Tackle repairs. (These will go surprisingly smoothly.) Clean out closets, drawers, desks and cupboards. Finish projects. Do research into the past. Study anything. Contact people from your past. Re-apply for a job. Try to get something you wanted before that fell through. Try again! Organize old photographs. Finish that "to do" list. It is easier to deal with the past than go forward into the future.
There are two sets of dates below: The actual time of Mercury retrograde is on the left. But Mercury slows down ahead of time, and then takes a long time to "catch up" to where it was when it first went retrograde. These longer time periods are on the right. When buying pricey transportation or a computer, I recommend respecting the dates on the right.
