Georgia Nicols' Sagittarius Forecast for 2010

2010: A time of Testing for Civil Liberties
This year, three changes in the heavens portend a conflict in society. We're talking about Pluto, Uranus, and Saturn. Roughly at this time, all three are making a shift from one sign to another.
Pluto takes 250 years to go through all 12 signs. (Yikes!) Pluto represents the impulse to tear things down to make them better: refinish furniture, renovate a house, destroy a nation to rebuild it.
(Sidebar: I don't believe the planets are actually causal. How could they be? But it's easier to speak as if they are. To me, astrology is a patterning of knowledge, a language for us to "read." The planets simply yield information about what is happening: as above, so below.)
Pluto rules nations. And right now, for the first time in 250 years, Pluto is at the beginning of its journey though Capricorn, the sign that rules governments. The last time it was in Capricorn was from 1763 to 1778 when the American Revolution culminated in the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Now Pluto is back in Capricorn. Specifically, it returned in November 2008, when the election of the first black president of the United States stunned the world.
Uranus represents a "pushing boundaries" drive for freedom. The last time Pluto in Capricorn occurred at the same time as Uranus was in Aries, was 1760-1767. (That was when the battle that brought Canada under British rule happened.)
Meanwhile, here come de judge! Every 30 years, Saturn has a two-year stint in Libra. Saturn rules the courts, and Libra rules the law. The last time Saturn was in Libra was 1980-83, a time of economic recession and inflation.
So here we are.
Capricorn's desire for efficiency and order will encourage laws that restrict the freedom of the individual so that governments can efficiently deal with the masses. (Its impulse will be to install a computer chip with ID and a GPS in the heel of every newborn.) "Then we know who everyone is, and where they are!" Naturally, this flies in the face of Uranus' drive for individual freedom.
In the coming decade, struggles will ensue. Pluto in Capricorn will try to get everyone so tidily organized, we're rank-and-file. Meanwhile, revolutionary impulses will fight conservative values that threaten individual civil liberties, and Saturn in Libra will weigh the "fairness" of each case.
There is a move to world order.
(I'm going to clean my bedroom closet.)
Hello 2010!
The unusual activities of Mars makes this a rewarding year. Mars visits each sign once every two years and stays for about six weeks. Right now, Mars is in one sign for eight months! Whaat? This triggers mucho opportunities to travel for you and, meanwhile, back at the airport, we know Sagittarius is THE traveller of the zodiac! Not only will you travel more, you'll explore ideas, further education, and anything to do with publishing, medicine, and the law. Basically, a big booster charge is zapping the very areas that are dearest to your heart. The last time this happened for this long was 1962-63. Mars also zapped this area in 1994-95. Did you travel then? The bottom line is 2010 will bring a strong emphasis on the things you love best. (If you believe in fairies, clap your hands!)
Your Illustrious Job and Reputation
Ever since 1994, you've been working toward your major goals. By 2001-02, you moved closer to what you wanted. And by 2007-08, you were on top of your game! Now, in 2010, you're still on a roll! (Or perhaps a croissant if you just got back from Provence.)
This kind of opportunity (to do your own thing) comes only once in 30 years. Make the most of it! You're empowered with motivation, focus, and the energy to follow through on your ideas. In addition, important people and opportunities will come to you this year. This is the time to act! Meanwhile, this unusual transit of Mars brings wonderful opportunities in higher education, publishing, the media, medicine, the law, and any work with foreign countries or travel. Quite literally, you're going places. You're PowerPoint on steroids!
Money - The Second Most Important Thing
Probably the best way to earn money this year is through real-estate speculation. This year and well into next year are the best times in more than a decade for you to buy a second piece of property, or sell and buy, or even buy for the first time. This is because your "good fortune" is tied up with home and real estate for all of 2010 and into 2011. Even improvements that you make where you live, or major purchases for your home, will prove to be valuable in the future.
When I recommend speculating in real estate, this is specific. This does not apply to gambling with your money. (If you want to gamble, just make mental bets; but be careful, you could lose your mind.)
Likewise, all family businesses are wonderfully blessed this year! In fact, this is a great year to enter a family business. (But not with your brother-in-law who's a lifeguard in a carwash.)
Heartthrob Moments
In 2010, your romantic luck could be close to home. Therefore, attend weddings, family vacations, and reunions because you might meet Mr. Right, at least Mr. Right Now. (Gender of your choice.)
However, the most logical way to expand your romantic life is through travel and dealing with foreign countries. Travel anywhere, especially in the first six months. Travel will be gratifying, and you could meet someone who is lively, sexy and stimulating! ("She's different! She never goes anywhere without this iguana and her castanets.")
Travel however, is not the only way to meet somebody this year. Grab every chance to get further education and training, or explore new ideas in politics, religion, consciousness-raising organizations, charitable groups, as well as anything to do with publishing, the media, medicine, and the law. These are all places for relationships to begin, or to enhance existing partnerships.
What attracts you is a meeting of the minds. You're impressed by someone who shares your politics, your love of beauty and animals, or your interest in esoteric knowledge. Ironically, it will either be the like-minded thinking that attracts you to someone or, if it's someone from a different background, you might be attracted to the differences between you. (Go figure.) Romance is never simple, and the road of true anything is never easy.
Home Suite Home
Lucky Jupiter brings magnificent opportunities to enjoy and appreciate your home. Either new furnishings or the addition of something will make you enjoy your home more. Similarly, you'll find greater joy with family in 2010.
However, this good fortune can be even more far-reaching. You might move to a bigger, more luxurious home. This is the perfect year to put money into renovating, redecorating, or moving. This is also a great year to invite people to your home, and have group meetings for common interests or a charitable cause.
This kind of blessing last occurred in 1998. However, at that time, you were fuzzy about career and job. Recently, you've had successes and positive experiences that boosted your confidence. In other words, this blessing to your home, your family, and your private life is a stronger blessing in 2010 because you know what to do with it! Cherished dreams can come true. How cool is that?
Your Inner Wah
You want to intellectually explore mystical concepts and spiritual ideologies this year. You'll strongly identify with your ideas! In fact, you'll identify so strongly you will fight for them or defend them. Even as this year begins, you can see you're putting energy into expanding your mind, and opening up new dimensions of reality. You have always wanted the big answers to the big questions. You're a philosopher. In part, this is why you love to travel. However, your sense of adventure goes beyond the physical world; you also love the adventure of testing far out beliefs. That's what makes this year so exciting. You're in a big candy store of ideas! This is an excellent year to discover inner peace and security. (And this kind of security isn't about people talking into their sleeves.)
My Sagittarius Mantra for 2010
"I can do what I want this year: I can run away and join the circus, or enjoy my happy home."
Mercury Retrograde in 2010
These are poor times to buy cars, trucks, bikes, computers, printers and phones. Expect delays, lost items and confused communications! Best to finish things, not begin them. [Please note: the dates below are the actual dates of the direction that Mercury is moving (relative to planet Earth). However, Mercury slows down before it actually goes retrograde and, likewise, it takes a while to get back up to speed afterwards as well. Therefore, my warnings in my columns will always allow for these buffer times on either side of these dates.]
