Georgia Nicols' Libra Forecast for 2010
This is a year for firm decisions - isn't it?

2010: A time of Testing for Civil Liberties
This year, three changes in the heavens portend a conflict in society. We're talking about Pluto, Uranus, and Saturn. Roughly at this time, all three are making a shift from one sign to another.
Pluto takes 250 years to go through all 12 signs. (Yikes!) Pluto represents the impulse to tear things down to make them better: refinish furniture, renovate a house, destroy a nation to rebuild it.
(Sidebar: I don't believe the planets are actually causal. How could they be? But it's easier to speak as if they are. To me, astrology is a patterning of knowledge, a language for us to "read." The planets simply yield information about what is happening: as above, so below.)
Pluto rules nations. And right now, for the first time in 250 years, Pluto is at the beginning of its journey though Capricorn, the sign that rules governments. The last time it was in Capricorn was from 1763 to 1778 when the American Revolution culminated in the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Now Pluto is back in Capricorn. Specifically, it returned in November 2008, when the election of the first black president of the United States stunned the world.
Uranus represents a "pushing boundaries" drive for freedom. The last time Pluto in Capricorn occurred at the same time as Uranus was in Aries, was 1760-1767. (That was when the battle that brought Canada under British rule happened.)
Meanwhile, here come de judge! Every 30 years, Saturn has a two-year stint in Libra. Saturn rules the courts, and Libra rules the law. The last time Saturn was in Libra was 1980-83, a time of economic recession and inflation.
So here we are.
Capricorn's desire for efficiency and order will encourage laws that restrict the freedom of the individual so that governments can efficiently deal with the masses. (Its impulse will be to install a computer chip with ID and a GPS in the heel of every newborn.) "Then we know who everyone is, and where they are!" Naturally, this flies in the face of Uranus' drive for individual freedom.
In the coming decade, struggles will ensue. Pluto in Capricorn will try to get everyone so tidily organized, we're rank-and-file. Meanwhile, revolutionary impulses will fight conservative values that threaten individual civil liberties, and Saturn in Libra will weigh the "fairness" of each case.
There is a move to world order.
(I'm going to clean my bedroom closet.)
Hello 2010!
This is an extremely significant time for you. Older Librans can hearken back to around 1980-81 to see a connection. (Does this ring a bell, Pavlov?) No matter what your age, in the next two years, you're beginning a new life. You spent the last few years letting go of stuff and saying goodbye to people, places, and possessions that were no longer relevant. In fact, some of these were important structures with family, home, and your job that you worked hard to build up since 1996. Even though you felt successful in 2003-05, during the last two years, you had to dismantle much of what you created. Weird but true.
Now, you're looking at a whole new ballgame! By 2018, you'll be a different individual. You might even look different. You might live in a different place. You might have a different job. Your education might be enhanced. Your family dynamics will change. This year is the threshold of a whole new life.
Your Illustrious Job and Reputation
Around 2004, things were sweet! You felt successful in whatever you were doing. It could've been a time of graduation, job promotion, marriage, birth, or achieving some sought-after dream. Actually, it was the culmination of something you started around 1990.
Now your job scene is different. After giving up so much in the last few years, you're grappling with an entirely new picture! You might be working at any old job to cobble your life together and keep things intact. (You still feel the shock waves of recent losses!)
However, this year is your lucky year! You can get a better job, better duties at your current job, or develop a different attitude to your job so that you're happier because something wonderfully improves! Some will enjoy work-related travel. Others will be pleased your evil boss is transferred to the Arctic Circle.
Money - The Second Most Important Thing
Around 1989-90, 1994-95, and again around 2003-04 were good times when you had a chance to boost your earnings. Quite likely, one of those dates will reflect this. And for lucky Librans, all those dates will ring a cash register bell. Because this year is all about striking out on a completely new path, many of you will not have an increase in salary or earnings. However, it could happen because your scene is actually the most blessed it has been in more than a decade. (Now that's a relief!) It's hard to say how your job will improve. It might be new perks, better working conditions, better relationships with co-workers and customers, or it could be more earnings!
Keep in mind that this new cycle you're beginning (similar to 1980-82) will require all your focus. And often when new things are beginning, their rewards are small during the start-up phase.
Heartthrob Moments
This is a powerful time for serious partnerships because so many of you have just left significant relationships behind you. Nature has a way of filling a vacuum. Furthermore, you don't like to be alone. You need someone on the other end of your teeter-totter. (You're the most social sign of all 12 signs!) You enjoy the company of others. But, in addition to this, you like to have somebody around just for company, and to bounce your ideas off others. You like somebody in another part of the house, even if you aren't particularly interacting. It's comforting. Therefore, now that some of you have let go of relationships, it's only natural that new relationships will quickly fill that void. Ya think?
It's important to remember that between 2010 and 2018, you will undergo many changes to your personality, your image, your values, and even where you live and work. These are huge changes, but they're mostly inner changes. Therefore, a relationship that begins now will have to accommodate all the changes that you are going to undergo in the next eight years! You might want to keep this in mind.
Home Suite Home
Profound changes will take place within your home and family structure between 2009-2024. In a way, this sounds like a foregone conclusion, doesn't it? After all, life is full of changes. However, this specifically refers to the influence of Pluto, and how its current path affects your home life. Pluto has never been in this part of your chart before. (The last time it was "here" was 250 years ago.)
Early Libras will already feel change taking place. Be reassured by the fact that Pluto always wants a superior result. However, it loves to tear things down to rebuild them "better." Therefore, many of you will begin extensive repairs and remodelling, and possibly have a change of residence. Pluto will get rid of whatever isn't working and clean the place up! It particularly focuses on plumbing, bathrooms, septic systems, and any kind of renovation. (Of course, if you really want to move, just turn up your eviction speakers.)
Your Inner Wah
This Plutonian influence works at three levels: the first is your physical residence. The second level is the dynamics of your family. (For example, power struggles with parents.) Pluto is obsessive, compulsive, and wants to improve something "for your own good." You can see where this could go! The third influence is personal. Pluto will trigger deep, psychological changes within you. Not only will your relationships with family members change, but your relationship with yourself will shift. This is a good time to seek counselling or something like that.
Pluto digs deep for secrets. The more you can get in touch with your inner identity, not just who people think you are, the more successful you'll be in the future. This is the beginning of seeking your own truth to discover who you really are. ("Do you think because nobody understands me, I'm an artist?")
My Libra Mantra for 2010
"A new sense of purpose makes my work enjoyable and fulfilling."
Mercury Retrograde in 2010
These are poor times to buy cars, trucks, bikes, computers, printers and phones. Expect delays, lost items and confused communications! Best to finish things, not begin them. [Please note: the dates below are the actual dates of the direction that Mercury is moving (relative to planet Earth). However, Mercury slows down before it actually goes retrograde and, likewise, it takes a while to get back up to speed afterwards as well. Therefore, my warnings in my columns will always allow for these buffer times on either side of these dates.]
