Introduction to 2007 Annual Forecasts

Now is the Time!

"You can't make footprints in the sands of time sitting down." This is the message that the year 2007 holds for all of us.

It might sound surprising, but astrology has little to do with the stars or even the constellations. It's all about the study of mathematical cycles and how they relate to our lives.

Yes, the signs have the names of the constellations, but they're not the same and they don't even line up any more with our birthdays. (Phfft! Just as you suspected!)

Nevertheless, information can be gleaned by seeing correlations between these cycles. Hey - as Gary Larson observed -- one of the biggest moments in science was when Einstein discovered time is money!

This is the year of James Bond - 007. ("Shaken, not stirred.")

Jupiter (that over-the-top planet of wealth) is the ruler of "more" i.e. increase, magnification, excess and abundance. ("I want it all!") However, it also denotes wisdom, knowledge and let us not forget - joy!

This year this lucky planet is finally in its own sign of Sagittarius, and will remain there until Dec. 18, 2007. Do we care? You betcha!

Jupiter bring us money, riches and laughter. This year its influence flourishes beautifully! No matter what you're pondering or dreaming or contemplating, and no matter what sign you are - this is the year to do it. Go for it with all you've got!

Jupiter is called the Great Benefic. It is associated with education, philosophy, religion, sports, guns, gambling, animal lovers, humourists, religious zealots, soap-box preachers, mountains, religion, terrorists, horses, theologians, lawyers, judges, comedians, cowboys, travel, gypsies, metaphysics and gunrunners and yes - I kid you not - James Bond.

All of these areas (and more) will get a marvelous boost this year. (Yes, I know this includes terrorist and gun runners, but the world is not perfect.)

One warning: this will be a physically hot year, and we must be very careful about forest fires. Jupiter is in Sagittarius (Fire) and Saturn is in Leo (Fire). Firefighters and the general public - please take note of this. Be aware and be responsible. (Where's there's smoke there might be more than burning toast.)

Ever since Pluto entered Sagittarius in 1995, we've seen increasing challenges with racial tension, terrorism, guns, plus scandals in the churches, colleges and universities. Pluto is Lord of the Underworld and the collective unconscious. It digs up and reveals dark secrets.

Jupiter is quite another matter. The Romans called Jupiter 'Jove', hence the term 'jovial'. (Darth Vader it ain't.) This means that the benevolent influence of Jupiter in it own sign of Sagittarius ((home at last!) during 2007 will greatly ameliorate (albeit for one year) the harsher influence of Pluto in this same sign.

Too many buzz words? To recap: racial tensions, and all matters related to the law, institutions of higher learning, and dealings with foreign countries will be softer and easier to work through. Battles for animal rights will be more successful. (Yes, some of you will get your own pony.)

Jurisprudence and law making will be more enlightened this year. Universities will grow and be more inclined to encourage the classical approach to education versus being primarily a source of research and training for industry.

An interest in religion (including religions of different countries) will deepen. A resurgence of faith will occur. New gurus will make the scene. (Isn't it curious that when we talk to God we're praying; but when He talks to us - we're supposed to see a shrink?)

Jupiter also rules publishing and the media. These areas will also experience growth and expansion. The travel industry will pick up as well. (Should I pack tropical?)

The key thing about it all is simply this: luck is with us! Good fortune is at hand. Expansion, increase and growth will manifest easily. Mostly this is good - but where we don't want growth it is unwelcome. Naturally this affects each of us differently according to our different charts and signs.

By contrast, in 2008, when Jupiter moves from Sagittarius (where it thrives) into Capricorn (where it's not comfy) things will change drastically. Many corporations could go bankrupt. Growth will slow down. Everyone will tighten their belts and be more conservative.

This means if you're considering trying anything new, or ready to initiate a new venture - do it in 2007! Set into motion whatever you can because later, everything has a tendency to be more concrete and settled into its own form. Things will sort of "freeze". (By Nov. 2008, Pluto goes into Capricorn as well further solidifying structures, especially in the government where huge scandals will erupt.)

Therefore, gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Do not postpone or procrastinate. Jump on the proverbial bandwagon! Now is the time to go after what you want. What you begin in 2007 will be like planting in the Spring. What you begin in 2008 will be like planting in the winter.

T.S. Eliot was right: "Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." Act fast because fools rush in and get the best seats in the house.

Car Karma

Car Karma, a new publication by Lee Romanov has just made the scene. Her research into insurance data (see her website: www.insurancehotline.com) of over 100,000 drivers revealed that when it comes to having accidents, Librans have the most accidents - and Leos have the least.

Traffic tickets showed a different scale with Pisces getting the most tickets and Gemini getting the fewest.

Once again, do we care? Quite possibly!

If insurance companies vary the cost of your auto insurance simply by your postal code - and they do - they might start to give credence to your birth date as an indicator of your driving habits. Your astrological sign might determine the cost of your car insurance. ("I want to fight this. Sure, I'm a Libra but I'm Leo Rising! Doesn't that count for something?")

The ratings for all signs were as follows:

Accidents:

  1. Libra (Worst)
  2. Scorpio
  3. Capricorn
  4. Aries
  5. Aquarius
  6. Sagittarius
  7. Pisces
  8. Taurus
  9. Virgo
  10. Gemini
  11. Cancer
  12. Leo (Best)

Tickets:

  1. Pisces (Worst)
  2. Aries
  3. Aquarius
  4. Capricorn
  5. Libra
  6. Taurus
  7. Scorpio
  8. Leo
  9. Cancer
  10. Virgo
  11. Sagittarius
  12. Gemini (Best)

Car Karma credits Leos' great driving skills to their generous spirit on the road, and wanting to be a "star" driver. I think that the Leo ability to quickly and constantly see the whole picture definitely has something to do with their safe driving record. Leo rules the theatre. These people quickly take in the whole scene wherever they are. Hence, they are probably checking their rear view mirror more, and also looking farther down the road and to either side more than others signs.

Romanov attributes the Libran hesitancy to make a fast split-decision as a prime factor for their high accident rate. This could be true. However, I think another consideration is that Librans are affected by their environment and their immediate surroundings. If they're driving under hairy conditions (kids screaming, traffic jams, bad weather) - they're more easily rattled, distracted and thrown off base. Librans want balance!

The year 2007 might well see behind the scenes discussions and further studies about these facts with the "in" (insurance) crowd. Oy!

Making Plans for 2007

Every other year, Venus the planet of beauty and love goes retrograde. The year 2007 is one of those years. Because this planet is so associated with visual beauty and relationships, while it is retrograde from July 27 until Sept.8, it's a poor time to schedule cosmetic surgery. It is also not an ideal time to get married.

I suspect the winter of 2007-2008 will likely be unusually cold with lots of snow. Great for skiing and snowboarders, but not for commuters driving to work every day.

Each year Mercury goes retrograde about three times. Because Mercury rules all forms of ground transportation, these retrograde times are a poor time to buy a car, truck or bike. They are also poor times to initiate anything new or start a new business or open a new restaurant or shop.

In 2007, these times are:

  • Feb. 13 - March 8
  • June 15 - July 10
  • Oct. 11 - Nov. 2

Because Mercury also rules many little details associated with our daily lives - communicating with others, mail deliveries, courier services, telephones, scheduling appointments, having meetings, and all kinds of sundry details related to paper work in general - we can expect delays, and confusion and mix-ups during these times. In fact, this confused period often starts a week or two before the actual retrograde time.

It's easy to misplace items then as well, or forget them. Make lists. Write things down. (Documentation is like sex: when it is good, it is very, very good - and when it is bad, it's better than nothing.)

Therefore, be wise and try to plan ahead. Avoid opening or beginning anything important in those times. On the other hand (yes, Mercury rule the fingers) these Mercury retrograde times are excellent to finish up old business or to delve into the past or study history or do research.

Aside from that - this is the year to go after whatever you want to do. Take a trip. Open a business. Go back to school. Tap into your creative potential. Build that house. Make your dream a reality.

In 2007, meaningless statistics will be up 2.54 %

Please keep the world clean, others may wish to use it.

The Capricorn Way

You're ambitious and you're a perfectionist. More than any other sign, you need respect from others which is why you have a strong need to be somebody -- to really arrive somewhere. Because of this, hard work and self-denial are second nature to you. You have determination, endurance and perseverance. And you keep score. (You can spot a Louis Vuitton at ten paces.) You dress well and as you age, you look waaay younger than your years. Despite your penchant for navy-blue reserve, you have an outrageous side. (Think fellow Caps -- Janis Joplin, Rod Stewart & Elvis Presley.) A Capricorn at the top is a happy Capricorn.

Been There Done That - Got the T-shirt

In the mid to late 80s, you gave up a lot. (No choice.) By 1989-90, you were in a new sandbox toying with creating a new image for yourself. Residential and job changes kept you on your toes in the mid 90s, and by 1996-98, you definitely wanted to settle down. (Something nice with minimum debt.) Increased responsibilities with children were likely as the new Millennium approached, and by 2001-02, you were working hard to hold your ground. Unfortunately, partnerships suffered a blow for many of you around 2003-05. This would shake you up because you value your security. Since then, you've had to give up things or get along on less, perhaps due to changing circumstance with a partner. This time of "less" is over later this year. (Whew! Thank gawd.)

2007 - To Infinity and Beyond!

Winter-Spring

It's a bit unusual, but your sign starts each year strong because the Sun is in your sign then. This gives you a natural advantage over everyone else. (A great start is half the race.) This year the momentum stays with you even longer because fiery Mars enters your sign in Feb. giving you extra zest and pep. By then you're focused on employment and earnings. Major expenditures are likely then as well. March is a busy month. Siblings might enter the picture then in a big way. Short trips, increased reading, writing and study plus juggling mucho errands keep you running. By April, you want to put your energy into home and family. Your communication skills are strong then; however, conflict with someone will require extra patience on your part. Consider it an opportunity to demonstrate grace under pressure.

Dog Days of Summer

The month of May is playtime for you. Foreign shores, exciting cities or mini-getaways beckon to you then. Count on fun times that month. Activities with children or the arts could be a priority as well. And - good news - May is the month for love! Guilt or opportunity drives you back to work in June. (But not too much of either because romance and play are still strong in June as well.) Partnerships are your main focus in July (and playful romance is still strong! Wazzup?) You might also be involved more with the public. You're definitely wrapped up with relationships this summer. Not until August do you suddenly decide to pull your act together and make the bed.

Fall and Winter

As autumn begins you want to go back to school, or explore opportunities in publishing, the media, medicine or the law. You also want to travel! You're keen to expand your world. Since fiery Mars is giving you tons of energy to work toward accomplishing whatever goals you have at that time - you'll succeed in pulling something off. No doubt about it. October is a successful time for you. VIPS and bosses notice you. You're strong then. By Nov. you're out there socializing. But be patient with partners for the last 3 months of the year - tension could set your teeth on edge. December is time to catch your breath and lie low.

Capricorn Luck for 2007

Western philosophy and Eastern thought both agree that to "Know thyself' is considered the most prized achievement in life. This year you have the best chance in over a decade to make great strides doing exactly this. Two reasons make this possible: one is your compassion for others will increase in 2007, giving you a deeper appreciation for the suffering of others as well yourself. The second reason is you're more prepared to look at aspects of yourself without fear. Possibly, a teacher or friend will help you do this. (Or you might help someone else do this same thing.) This could also trigger an interest in metaphysics or spiritual disciplines. (You. You're singing Ohm on the Range.)

Obstacle Blessings

Obstacle blessings are tough at the time, but in retrospect - a valuable learning curve. If 1996 was a turning point for you, then 2003 was when you stepped out boldly in the world. Since then you've worked steadily for your own personal success. But a few years ago, circumstance tightened up. Your resources became limited. The support from others -- psychological, financial, emotional -- was taken from you. (It's hard out there without your towel.) Fortunately, by late 2007 and 2008, this squeeze play is over. You'll be free to sprint forward to a career peak around 2010/11. You're almost out from under the rock! But now you know how to steer your life within the limitations of your own resources.

Food for Thought

You're a pioneer with food, although you like earthy, wholesome dishes. You tend to eat more be the clock. (Three squares a day.) You listen and learn a lot about food, filing ideas away to try later. You savour food and you like how food is the basis of family and holiday occasions. Food holds the family together! You hate waste; hence you're highly original and talented with leftovers. Despite your willingness to experiment, you're a traditionalist at heart. You like to remembered for preparing a particularly delicious dish.

Five - Sex - Seven

You're sexually hot! You like sex frequently. All Earth signs are sensuous and you are no exception. You're attracted to the forbidden and the taboo. (Sex is dirty only if it's done right.) When you're interested in someone, you don't go away. Your sex drive stays strong all your life - well into your 80s. You'll never stop loving the back of your knees tickled. (You devil.)

Mantra for 2007

As I change the way I look at things, the things I look at change.
